Who has Insurance?
silver - April 12th, 2004 at 10:00 PM

Ok Everyone, since I had my Accident with an Uninsured Driver. I wondered, If anyone else think's it is not worth the money!
I hope you all have at least Third Party Property.
Just imagine rear ending a Ferrari shunting it into an Antique Chandelier shop full of QC's and Top Barristers who earn $6K a day each......You wont enjoy the experience,I think!

Only recently got it. You could say it's a waste of money but at least your covered should something happen!

Third party, fire and theft. If I hit anything, its covered. If it catches fire, I'm covered. If someone steals it, I'm covered. If its my fault and my car is damaged, I say thank heavens I have 2 cars in the back yard to rebuild with!

As an Insurance Investigator, I can only say you would have to be stupid not to have some sort of cover.
and ALWAYS read YOUR policy to see what is and what isnt covered,.
Ie Modifications.
It HAS to be included in YOUR policy, dont take the salesmans word for it.

Cheers
Dave

I got ALL my toys insured with Shannons.
You never know and kinda irresponsable if you don't.

empi man - April 13th, 2004 at 03:08 PM

Insure it under another licenced driver.Do not lie on the info on your application as this can be held against you if you have they have to claim!Good luck!

XXX-1.8T - April 13th, 2004 at 03:14 PM

I spoke to Famous Insurance they will insure Shazza for a agreed value of $6000 for $980 a year

Budget Insurance said they will insure it for market value ($2500) for $660 per year

ill shop around and see but for now Famous sound good:beer

Canni. - April 13th, 2004 at 05:28 PM

I am also insured with shannons....they rock :) our other cars are insured with RACV but shannons were much cheaper and would insure it for more ...

baybuscamperkid - April 13th, 2004 at 07:24 PM

i will be getting third party fire n theft, hopefully through shannons as they seemed the nicest about insuring a 30yr olf car that has been camperised and had an engine conversion to an 18yr old:thumb

blownKombi - April 13th, 2004 at 07:53 PM

I had to insure with shannons as no one else would insure my blown kombi. Shannons look after me and ive got no problems with them even tho i lost my licence once. Although they say they wont insure young drivers anymore but if you say a freind is insured with them who is a worse driver they usually give it to you... worked for a mate anyway;)

baybuscamperkid - April 13th, 2004 at 08:12 PM

haha. yeah, i had a chat to the rep at one of the shows, he said it is usualy 3rd party only, but if he has a look and sees that i have done a lot of work on the car then they realise that i am not going to thrash it and will give me the proper cover.

XXX-1.8T - April 14th, 2004 at 02:31 PM

One of my mates just bought new Golf R32 and he was over the moon with the price Shannons gave him - they also encourage him to mod it as well ;)

Im waiting on a price for my Audi:bounce

But its good to talk to real car and vw enthusiasts

Yeah well, my mate has full Comp with the R.A.C.V, and a uninsured person hit his car.
The R.A.C.V fixed my mates car and because the uninsured person doesn't work they only have to pay the R.A.C.V back $5 per month.

Sometimes it pays to be a uninsured and unemployed.

But all my Cars have Full Comp and I believe everybody should have insurance.
