One thing was a bummer at the nats the loud and bad music and dvd sound tracks blairing from cars it was past a joke dont get me wrong I love my 60s and 70s classic pumped up but the nats is not the place it was just a mass of noise just some kind of contest to have the most decibels it made it hard to talk to people about the cars, maybe I am showing my age but it was just unpleasent ..... does any one agree or should I pull my head in .
yeah ,it was a bit hard to hear announcements etc, must be getting old too!!!!!!:P
I don't mind a show of power every now and then, but not having them run constantly over the whole day
I was parked next to the black Golf with the HUGE sound system. He was asked a couple of times to cool it. Nice guy though, just maybe should have been somewhere else.
maybe at the next nats a sound competition could be held nearby the show and shine and they can get it all out of their system and away from the main area.
I dont like it, as the famous lady from ipswich said.
I dont like it when some people think they need to start the cars and let em sing at the redline either. It takes some enjoyment away from others so
it shouldnt be allowed.
I tend to agree.
what they need to do is have a sound off at a certain time of day
like they have at the Jamboree. Seems to work a treat.
Fine, use it, but just be considerate about it. I think thats what people are trying to say.

I don't know if you are getting too old or just becoming wise. At our show in Adelaide each year they hire a band to play during the day and place the band next to the area set aside for eating and talking.I only get to see these VW people and their cars once a year and get pissed off trying to talk over the top of some crap music that's got no relevance to the day.
billycart i dont agree......im young and im into car stereos and alot of doof doof but if im at a show.....(unless its an audio sound off) then im there for the cars......i dont need to show off how loud i can get my speakers before they explode....thats not what its all about.....people want to talk to the owners of cars and be able to hear their replys without having to yell........i say TURN IT DOWN....the only reason u guys all do it anyway is because u think u are impressing someone otherwise u wouldnt bother.......sure have an awesome stereo but use it when its appropriate.....like in designated areas or times...not when the 2 guys next to you are trying to have a quiet conversation about ride height
What he said (anthiron)
:bounce
Well I hate it, I think there should be a DJ running the one sound system.
I was at one show last year and some clown had his system pumping out a song with bad swear words blaring out for all to hear, I can't believe the
selfishness, and lack of thought from some PPL. I realise that some PPL dont have the same tastes as me (some may say thank god) so I refrain from
imposing my particular songs on the ears of others.
I take my children to these shows,as do a lot of other familiy's and I dont think it is very appropriate, or in the spirit of the event, to behave
like this. Like what has been said before, its a car show, not a radio volume contest.
Rob...
maybe there should be an area for it? or broadcast some cool music and the announcements onto a radio frequency and allow all cars to urn the radios up as loud as they want, as long as it is tuned to the show's station. that way the music is controlled and the messages get across to everywhere.
thats a good idea about the announcements over a radio frequency baybuscamperkid but it dosnt solve the problem of not being able to hold conversations.....good idea though:party
ok i dont want to offend any one here but here is my say
i think that if people are going to spend the money to make a good sound system part of the car, then it is part of there car and should be showed off
a bit.
plus i think that the music played can show the theme and personality of the car and owner which helps to show off the car.
I wasnt at the nats but i have been to a few car shows with ryan and its at all shows as far as i can tell.
i understand that children and families go to these events and some music is very distasteful, but chosen correctly and loud but not to loud adds to
the whole affect of the car.
Just my opinion, as i said not ment to offend anyone so no one please take any offence.
Danielle
Well said lulu94,
yes well chosen music can help show the car off.
But it is like anything in life, moderation and consideration is the key.
hey billycart, i am sure that wayne wouldn't be impressed if you had loud music blaring out of you car next to his cab when he is talking to
admireres about it.
I got a pretty good system in my car, nothing over the top, but not too shabby either. I don't usually turn it on at car shows, and if I do it's not
very loud or not for very long. A car show is a car show, not a sound off.
I laugh at the wankers with more kW in their stereos than in their engines, sitting there with techno blarring thinking they're cool. :puke
right on wes!
Amen to that. Do they realise how stupid they look?
:cussing
Cars not noise.
Well music is cool but it is primarily used to create atmisphere and therefore should always be undertaken with due respect to the situation and
programmed to add to the atmosphere of the event, i think dj's for shows are a great idea but only because im a dj who does vw shows and my sound
system is huge but as a dj asked to provide tunes for an event (read VW Jamboree Vic ) my crew and I endeavour to provide cool music for the whole
family at a level that doesn't detract from the vibe of the thing man. Consideration for all your fellow man is the way to go but as always this is a
balance thing and not always centimetre perfect. All things said i hope to have my complete dj rig out of the beetle and into a bus in the near
future and look forward to inflicting ma taste on ya all at a venue near you soon.
YWOODNYA from Ywoodnya sound systems.:beer
use can all get stuffed i do what i want when i want:P:P:P:P:P u will hear my kombi next year whether ya like it or not and not playing ur crappy
70's hits
kiss
kiss:kiss
keep it real
rhys
hey peoples i understand that the music can get a bit loud and anoying, but as a young bloke myself i understand how hard it is the gain respect for what you have in your beetle as we are not alowed to enter our cars in the auto salon and alot of other motor shows due to a rule called the 87 rule which alows 87 and newer cars to be entered into the show. so the only other alternative if the vw nationals the only other place where people respect your car no matter what( if they r true vw fans). now im 16 im doing up a 68 beetle i dont see there should be a problem with it.its only one day a year. Its a good thing that us young blokes are taking an interest into the vw scene or else it would die right out so maybe the older generation vee dubers can take that into concideration and like one of the other blokes said dedicate a certain section for the loud sterios or evan make a show for the young blokes. anyways let the air cooled spirit live on forever.
hey kombi kid would u be into a cruse or something for all us your peoples with the hot vws and the loud sterios. cause it would be good if some cars gt together and had an event for like the younger generation
when i get my licence back :cussing:cussing:cussing:cussing its a very llllooooooonnnnngggggggg story
I think thats a great Idea. Is there was an event for PPL with hi tech audio equipment in their cars?, may be the VW fraternity could organise
something for a Volkswagen only show?
Rob...

Well I'm not exactly old, and don't want to hear 70's crap (well some 70's is cool), but I hate half the techno crap people play to show off their
stereo's.
Playing it quitely most of the show and cranking it up when someone asks you to or when your trying to show someone how it sounds is fine. I do that
occasionally.
It's the people who sit in fold out chairs beside their car and crank their music continuously all day that I don't like and find funny. Trust me,
they look like wankers.
The gold coast show had trophies for stereos. I got 2nd place and I didn't even turn my stereo on. I'm assuming the judges did when they looked at
my car. I didn't need to crank it hard all day to impress anyone. And some of the people that did crank it all day obviously didn't impress the
judges.

i am in putting a very loud sound system in my fastie when it's finished and if i'm at a show and someone wants to hear what it can do then i'll
show them...but i have to say to have it going all day is just boring and annoying. doing a sound display every now and then is one thing, annoying
the crap out of everyone is another.
plus who wants to stand and admire a car when you can't hear yourself think standing next to it.
i agree with amazer...everyone has to be considered, not just yourself
I agree with all those who want to turn the stereos off, and talk to other VW People that You see once a year..
It wasn't as bad as the LOUD LIVE BAND that played at the nationals last year [maybe year before?] It Was LOUD ..
So, I congratulate whoever decided NOT to have a live band this year.. and You won't catch Me, with My stereo on, and the Engine running so the
Alternator can catch up.... to the battery.. and I Like to have Shania Twain singing out LOUD so everyone can HEAR HER...

Much Better than Thump Thump!!
What if I replace ALL CDs in Music playing VWs with a Shania Twain CD?? Now that would be nice...
so long as We can still talk
without shouting and going hoarse...
