ADVICE NEEDED
LittleMissHerbina - April 15th, 2004 at 10:40 AM

This is my dilema

I am needing another car for a more serious image.
I drive a 63' herbie replica, its such a beautiful car and i love it to death, however i am doing the whole job interview thing and am after a more serious full time job.
Should i be thinking about a new car??
I still dont want to get away from beetles, maybe get a 2nd hand new beetle?? means i have to finance it though....

I would still keep herbie, can someone give me their opinion??? :o

What about a golf ????? They look very serious ! I have a conservative job, when I was looking at upgrading my previous car I looked at a golf, but somehow walked away with a NB cabrio (figure that out!)

dont really like the look of the golf.
I do but they just look like all the othercars on the road.
I just want something a bit different.

stick with the beetle I got my serious job (engineer) while driving the bug. As long as its good nick, it shows ur not just a clone. But now iam looking at golf for the better image, but I don't know bit of both. mmmm

park around the corner! Or hire a car for 1/2 day. And I thought getting a haircut for a job was a sacrifice.

I agree with both Bix and Amazer. Your car should have no bearing on your job chances whatsoever (unless you are like a funeral consulatant or something).

I got my Engineering job driving a bright red Baja with a shaved head, so image isnt always everything.

as long as its in good nick and not a rat look myou should be right. But you can tell alot about a person by their car, so don't go and get a boring car, if ur not a boring person.

EXACTLY....it will show them u arent a standard Suit like everone else......stick with the bug its got all the class u need

My second serious job interview was great. Drove up in my orange bug in the uk, to the airline engineering hangar. The boss saw it and spent a heap of time talking about mine and his daughters which he was working on !!
I started a month later.

i just want to look really professional thats all, i should stay with my beetle i guess, it shouldn't matter i know but sometimes it still does unfortunately.

BiX - April 15th, 2004 at 03:56 PM

borrow, beg, rent or steal one if its that much of a aproblem. Are they going to see it anyway?

blutopless2 - April 15th, 2004 at 03:58 PM

guess it depends on whether you really wanna borrow the money to finance the new 2nd hand car. what type of job are you going for?? as this sometimes can influence what car you need.

bugboymatt - April 15th, 2004 at 04:00 PM

Do you want it just for the interview to make good first impressions ! Are you gonna be needing it everyday ! You have to be careful, sitting in something which is almost like everyone elses isn't good. You'll loose that individuality ! You love you bug let it show !

What job you going for ! does everyone else drive "fancy newish cars" !

LittleMissHerbina - April 15th, 2004 at 04:11 PM

i was looking at an accounts/payrol position.
I never had a problem before with my bugs but because this one is Herbioe i am just a little more cautious.
Also, this job i am looking at is a much higher paid job so i just feel i need to really impress.

I never really wanted to take out finance for a car before a house but maybe i should look into it.
Lots to think about
