ratty, cal look, stock, german
i hear these names being thrown around.. what does each one mean?
i understand Ratty
but i have no idea on the rest..
thanks guys

Cal look- California look-drag strippers of the 60's-70's. Big engines, striped off of all body trim, BRM[skinny front|wide rear tyres. slammed at
the front Monotone paint etc etc
Stock- as name suggests to mods, original vehicle
German Look- Race engine|highlymod running gear(blown, forced induction, 2win turbo'ed), BIG wheels + brakes(usually Brembo|porsche, fully tuned
suspension, Carbon fibre bits, Hi tech stuf etc etc
Resto Cal- Slammed stock cars with white wallz, period accessories etc
and there are others too.....W :P
A Ratty is when you pull out a stock engine, and replace it with a number of rodent exercise wheels, linked to the transmission system via belts and
shafts.
It is a system developed in Nimbin to run Kombi's on household rubbish. Very environmentally sound! It is just that your Garage smell's after a
while from all the rat droppings, so you have to stay on top of that.
i thought the look of "oldeschool" was when u had slammed stock cars with period assesories(as many as possible) such as lots of chrome and visors and eye lids and a thermodor perhaps..........and that "resto custom" was a car that had been restored but the restorer had added personal touches like mags.....maybe a better exhaust....maybe changed the seats etc.
i wanna go a chrome +++
and thick white walls on my '68 semi
needa roof rack and visor... and fender stone guards
and figure out how to get these (headlight) stone guards on!!!!! i hate the
eyebrows :| so i guess that'd be a resto cal/ oldskool style
That to me sounds oldeskool or RestoCal to me..
i believe thats what the last line of my post said
I know, I was agreeing!!

http://oldeskool.org/
this is oldskool style....enjoy...
Sorry benetton.. just looked like a plain statement
no hard feelin's?
what about the crappy, poor person, second hand bits, unrepaired dints, sticky taped headlights look?
not exactly a rat......but far from being in any kind of style......
..........maybe the daily driver dodgy style?
look in my signature thorun:P
Here's some from a picture gallery site.....select from...
Baja
Cal look
Custom
French Look
Fusseltuning
German look
Old School
Other
Primer look
Race Look
Racing
Rat Look
Resto-Cal
Vintage
I think I'll either concentrate on "Fusseltuning" or "Other" for my ride.... something's definitely missing, as there's no "Ukulele Look" for
that Hawaian-style bug....

who would want a french styled bug!!!!
The French are very stylish, they just don't know shit about cars. Never let them touch your electronics. Bad idea!
lol yeah
i think in goin with oldeskool/race-look style
wat do ppl reckon??
dom
sounds good to me dom
what is the French style?.. that big list up there.. no link...
does anyone have any of my above mentioned items laying around?
Windsheild Visor
roof rack
fender Stone guards
chrome plates for air vents.
and a Spacer for decklid
don't know about VWs Killakornkob but otherwise french style is zee best!!
the best way to find out about the french style might be to take some introductory french lessons and save up for a plane ticket...
and I was told the "crappy, poor person, second hand bits, unrepaired dints, sticky taped headlights look" was called dunger or turd look. But I'd
like to think my shitty old 63 of something other than turd look... has anyone one got a better name? A shitty loooking VW is still a VW, not a turd!!
Nah, no hard feelings.. I have thicker skin unless it is plain old abuse.
This spacer you speak of for the decklid is called a decklid standoff(s), one for each hinge. You can get them at most VW shops..
The other stuff gets harder..
i will have to keep an eye out
check out the local shoppies... i got the
headlight guards from volkspower... but STILL cant fit them!
*scratch
head* so frustrating!
