G'day,
I was just wondering about Scat bus shifters as I looked at the ads for them but don't tell me too much about what they are and do,so has anyone here
seen, driven, heard about or got one and also bugs have quickshift riser blocks can bus have this too as I'm sick of sloppy waste time shifting.
I am after one too.
Similar to the Beetle, but longer.. Sounds silly, but it is basically just that easy.
So, chrome shaft, chrome handle, short throw, etc..
I have one on my bus that has just been sold. Scat quickshift, took a bit of getting used to but once you are it is cool, makes the whole gear change thing much closer
of opportunity as have someone in the u.s. and not sure to get one as they seem like a great idea but I would like some feedback of their greatness.
Plenty of variety with T1/T3 etc, but T2 I would think this one is the best one around, as the choices are fewer..
I picked up a scat quickshift for my bus at a swapmeet in the U.K. for 50 quid. not sure what new price is
Works v. well.
a friend put one in his splitty, and he's happy with it.
I'd suggest a new linkage at the same time, a quick shift won't solve all your slop issues.
I put a quick shift plate in my '64 beetle that the gear shift felt like a wooden spoon in a bowl of porrige, it felt 90% better.
I have one in my split and it works really well. I replaced the bushes at the same time so it went from sloppy to sports car! Took a bit of setting
up, but I find it great to use with it's reverse lock-out function.
People have even asked me if it's an automatic!
Dan
I wish I had bought that.
Will look for one when I go back in June.
Cheers
Dave
They only cost about 100US plus shipping so are not real expensive anyway.

I got mine from Wolfgangint.com, and this is what they told me before buying:
There are two different types for split and bay windows because the ball at the bottom of each is different. The year for this changeover is sometime
in '66 so you'll have to check what you have before you buy.
I have a '66, but it was a March build so had all the '65 mechanics, so I was able to get the early version. But if you drive a late split it will
be worth checking what you have.
to getting one and the other question is ....is it still the H pattern or like an auto?.and many thanks for your info everyone:thumb
still the H pattern it don't change the box :>
with the Tbar handle wonder why not a cool knob or optional.
T bar is cool.. But yeah, why not, you could put a knob on later.. but the T bar is standard..
The t-bar is easily screwed off, so you are able to replace it with something else if you like. The t-bar is pretty cool to use.
