If we don't have rego stickers what tells people that the car is registered?

But anyone can slap plates on any car and call it registered if you don't have a sticker.
I wish we did what the americans do and have a small sticker on the number plate that gets replaced each year.

And the people I was referring to was the police.

the germans do the same thing, put a little tab in the middle of the number plate. the other good thing they do is allow you to drive 2 cars on the one set of plates. All you do is change them from car to car. This costs a little bit more but not double like here in oz.

In fact, rego stickers are about to go away in Victoria. I was surprised to see my rego sticker turn up as I had heard that from September, they are no longer being issued. However, I cannot find any reference to this on the VicRoads web site.

They are no longer used to determine if your car is actually registered (VicRoads does this using snail mail) and the police look you up on their little in-car computer on the plate alone.
