I'll do it for a $100.00 (I've got a new brush)

kombikim - May 6th, 2004 at 12:44 PM

sadly, this question is open to cynicism,
Silvers offer is good, except he can only do two colours

HotRodMatt - May 6th, 2004 at 01:02 PM

If he mixes the black he can do a few custom shades...

ronster - May 6th, 2004 at 01:20 PM

i guess depends what needs to be done...

i was quoted between 2 - 3k for a complete exterior respray from a few painters in sydney

VWFOOL - May 6th, 2004 at 01:59 PM

yeh same $2500 inside and out, or just $2000 for the outside (if i kept it yellow as the inside is perfect) thats in newcastle.

vw54 - May 6th, 2004 at 02:06 PM

I could do it several colours as well as i have several BUCKETS full of paint

Oh if you dont want paint ofn teh glass masking will be extra

Cheap is dangerous. :puke:puke

When I painted the outside of our beetle it cost $400 just for the paint alone, no labour, and that is the cost price to us - a panel shop.

At the moment I am painting just the sections that Fleur smashed.

You won't get a respray for under $1500, and I wouldn't complain too much if your not happy with the job. A back yarder might be a little bit cheaper. You would expect the paint used would be air dry enamel, or acrylic.

BiX - May 6th, 2004 at 02:35 PM

well I reacknon I could do it for about $30, thats buy 30 dollars worth of cans and leave the car and can's in a bad part of melbourne

While the other guys have been shooting the breeze, I've gotten to and painted your ride; one coat pink primer, one coat chrome yellow, left over from my truck.

Total price $0.00; hope you're happy....

ronster - May 6th, 2004 at 04:40 PM

quoted 3k for 2 pak...

tempting....

ikube - May 6th, 2004 at 05:10 PM

haha!! Thanks guys, for all the messages :)

2 - 3 k ... should start saving up ! I know someday I'll be bored with the color right now & need a new color :(

ph billet - May 6th, 2004 at 10:51 PM

thats cheap mine cost 5 grand but it did win best paint at flat 4 shootout the only problem is you feel the pain of every stone .:cry

ikube - May 7th, 2004 at 12:50 AM

Yes I agree, especially a lowered vehicle ! All the stone chips ... soo tiring after every drive :P have to watch out carefully on road conditions!

:repuke

The paint job will vary in cost depending on whats underneath, how far you go back either just a scuff or a full strip back 2 bare metal.

Once the old paint is off you never know what you will find

also what type of paint you use. 2 pak, air dry enamel or acrylic ??? 2 pak being the more expensive and more costly to apply, oven time cost money so does masking.

theres alot in painting and preparing a car, its not simple just to apply it, with a spray gun. Rubbing back can take you a good 2 days to get a good surface to apply the paint to.

Once again CHEAP is dangerous. :puke:puke

blutopless2 - May 7th, 2004 at 08:57 AM

i have had a few quotes in melbourne for my beetle. i will be changing the colour but i am stripping the car myself. will hand it over to them with nothing in it that they have to mask up so this saves them time and me money. There is some panel work to be done also. cheapest for inside and out was $3000 to most expensive $9000 (and the guy was going up and up and up!!! - i stopped him at 9...)

ikube - May 9th, 2004 at 02:14 AM

cheap is dangerous, I agree ! shouldn't risk it ;) cause I love my VW :kiss

hm ... I wonder what u get for $9000 ?! what sort of paint job ?

Cheers~!

blutopless2 - May 10th, 2004 at 08:00 AM

dont know what i would have gotten for 9000 but he was talking all sorts of stuff that i had no idea what he was on about... didn't really think he wanted the job just quoted high in case i was stupid enough to say yes. he said there was not much panel work to be done but was gonna bead blast the paint off (for about $2000 on its own)... so i quietly got back in the car and left... my wife and i just looked at each other then went to the next place.
