what are motorollas as a phone? decent? im probly getting one of these tomorrow and thought id throw it up here at the last minute

Some of the guys here had earlier Motorolas. One changed to Samsung (!) cos it had a fish game, and my other boss changed to something which could cope with his daily talk time as the batteries weren't up to it.

Anyway, good luck with the phone.

Well I used to have a motorolla a few years ago but found it cheaply built, and the battery didn't last, so went to LG's they are even worse, then went to nokia's and they kick arse!!! but motorolla's may have gotten better?

I have also been warry (sp?) of flip phones, as its a week point in the phone design, but mine does ten to live in my briefcase or in m change pocket on my jeans.

i have the expert sitting next to me. My wife.
She works in the mobile phone industry and says that they are crap.
They have to send them back for repairs all the time and tha average time of repair is 3 to 4 weeks.
Thier store has even gone to the lenths of trying not to sell them to people, unless they specifically ask for it.

I wouldn't worry too much about flip open phones. My parents have had an old Motorola StarTac for four or five years and it's flip open mechanism still works. I suppose if you dropped it while it was open it might be more at risk. The flip open design works well because when open it's more like a normal fixed phone to talk into.

Having said that the battery on this Motorola is really bad probably because it's so small. Hopefully battery technology would have evolved a bit since this one was built.

Adam give the motorolas the miss, as the other guys said batteries are crap dont last long. Ive found Nokias to be the most reliable and will last about a week or so turned on all the time. As well if anything goes wrong easy to fix.

I got a letter from Optus last night for renewing my plan. So I downgraded to the $77 / mth plan (currently $99), and I'm getting a Nokia 6600 on Tuesday.

I've had a phillips savvy (crap but it worked)
an ericsson t20 (good but no predictive text)
a nokia 3310 (good, but microphone stopped working)
and a nokia 3315 (still good)

I would get another ericsson if they had the same predictive text as nokia's.

BTW the predictive text on those motorolla pill phones is sheise, you have to press ok for each and every word you type in, but those are cheap phones so i dont know about the rest of the range.

Probably going to change to orange soon for the 11c sms and 24c/10min calls to fixed lines.

I just bought a motorolla E365 and I think its great - especially for the price, my previous fone was a siemens m55 and this motorolla shits all over it. I prefer to stay away from nokias as they have the worst quality and never last to long (this is from having owned four nokia's- the only one still working was my first- a 5110.)

Mad Manx - May 9th, 2004 at 10:31 AM

Geez I just realized.... thats 6 different fone's- I'm a fone junky:thumb

Adam_C - May 9th, 2004 at 02:25 PM

hehe ive had a 3210, ericson t20(or 28 cant remember) a nokia 5210 and now the motorolls.... the 5210 was recently discontinued it was me moserecent phone..... it was a peice of shit my reminders stopped working and all i saw were squares, constantly turned itself off and many other little things, my 3210 was a peice of crap too..... got it when they first came out and used it for a fair while, it got replaced by the ericson and of it was easier to use and the menu's and crap were better (and not a 1 line screen lol ) i wouldve stuck with it and now the motorolla, i dont use predictive text so its no issue lol i prefer to type the whole thing out,.... never got the hang of the predictive..... ah well ill give an update on how the phone holds up if neone is interested in a few weeks .....

thanks for the heads up
