While on the topic of surveys my wife is very supportive of my automotive obsetions helping out on the car when ever possable if your partner isnt interested it can be a strain ,and I know many people to give it all away for this reason. Is your wife, girlfriend, husband or boy friend into dubs or do thay just look at you like you need therapy.
Bit of a hard one this. When your as far gone as most of us on the forum it's hard for others to see why you can so excited over a new polished
bracket, some tyres, a sticker or a new muffler etc. Alot of other people won't understand your gibbering on about 48ida's . Most people have a way
of getting rid of their wages , some gamble , some drink , footy , clubbing ,whatever. I do none of the above (ok drink abit) but have i've got
something to show for my money plus there's the social side of owning a VW. Double bonus! But balancing that with a non believer in VW's is a
pretty tricky affair.
To keep my girlfriend happy ( kind of) about my bug (didn't like it) it meant lots of things . Moved in together to show my commitment , nice dinners
out, posh flowers every week and telling her how sexy and beautiful she was first thing in the morning and that "NO" her bum didn't look big in
those jeans , looks hot!! I'd Buy her the top she wanted a size too small , telling her "no way i thought you we an 8 for sure". The odd love
letter under her pillow and running a candle lit foamy bath for her when she worked lates. On top of that i used to do all the household chores , do
the washing , wash and brush the dog ( big hairy one) and rabbit ( yes rabbit!), cook ( not rabbit) , and buy the food ( yes rabbit food).
To ensure she never got pissed off with me working on my bug certain other nice gestures were required.
Anytime she wanted to go to the gym , out with her mates , shopping , visiting her mum or picking up , it would always be okay with me! Glad to! My
final gesture was to open up a joint account and hand over most of my decent wages and let her do the finances .
This i did just so i could keep my bug nice , have time to work on it and maintain a relationship!
Well it worked out well for us in the end. We're both happy , spend alot of time together , going everywhere together , getting to really understand
what makes eachother tick, finally. Meeting up with heaps of others and having a blast. Next week we'll be together a year , can't believe it. So
to celebraite i'm taking her somewhere really , really nice and expensive and we'll do a full serice and fit that muffler! Love my 67!
Vw fools + Nice VW'S + A non-believer = alot of hard, hard work

Got a tip for you all..... find someone who likes vee dubs too
Worked for
me!
Took me a lot of hard work* to convince my parents, especially me mom, to let me buy and drive an old Beetle.
Now, my dad's hooked onto the Beetle, and he's looking for one for himself.
Both father and daughter now have a lot of work to do, to persuade my mom to let us "adopt" yet another Beetle... :P
ps: and no, we are not mechanics, or into any of the real hands-on stuff. My dad's first car was a 1968 Beetle.
*won't bore everyone with the details...
