Just wondering what the go was with REV checks!! Do you think they are still a good idea on older vehicles?? Also any advice to a prospective dubber would be much appreciated. :bounce

What is a REV check? It must be a Qld term, like 'Ay'

Always worth it. Usually not too many title problems witholder cars as they are rarely bought on finance unless they are in the higher dollar bracket. But a REVS (Register of encumbered vehicles) check (free if you don't buy the certificate) can show up irregularities or possible problems.

I would also recommend ringing the RTA as well with engine, chassis and rego (if registered or has old plates) as they can tell you when it was last registered or if it can't be registered.

Yeah i bought a REVS certificate before i bought my car. It's only $10 or something and its legally binding - it will prevent the car from being reposessed.

Its probably not a problem though with beetles, as no one pays finance on old cars really like matt said, and no one re-births them or anything

wat about if ur buying engines or a beetle chassis, should u ring revs on those?

be aware that REVS will ONLY tell you if there is money owing on the vehicle, NOT if it's stolen etc. Calling the road authority with the details may help. The cops wont tell you for some strange legal reason.
