VENTING!!!!
Shrek - May 12th, 2004 at 10:11 AM

:cussing

Is this the place to vent..............? Good.

I buy my first VW, Shrek the Kombi. He's great, I love him.

One week!! One week later, and I lose my entire set of keys, which of course includes Shrek's key. Initially I'm thinking....'no worries - got a spare'. And this morning I woke up with a start realising NOOOOOO!!! It's got the filler cap key, AND the spare wheel padlock key on the bunch too.

This is not a good start to my dubbing career!!!

By the way, if anyone finds a bunch of keys in the Maroochydore (Cotton Tree Pocket) area, please let me know.

Thanks, I'm done now..........

welcome on board......
hope you'll find your keys........

Thanks, Sleeper!!

Are you sure you're not hiding them from me?

Know anyone that can break into a fuel cap? Can't even fill him up now.

It must be the week for it. Son broke his house key so gave him mine, so I have been using the husbands keys. Now I can't find mine!!!!!!!!! Have searched the house and the (always full) handbag, but still haven't found them. I am going to give up now and use the theory that if you aren't looking for them they will be sitting right in front of you.

Don't you hate that! I'm always missplacing my keys. I keep my spare tyre key in the ash tray so I don't loose it unless I misplace my car. As for the filler key, my '73 Camper doesn't have a lockable cap......Great for the whole key issue, not so good with current fuel prices.
Hope you find them.

killakornkobb - May 12th, 2004 at 01:37 PM

mine isnt lockable either!! do people actually steal petrol?? i know drive aways r pretty common.. but from somones tank?!! the mind boggles!

Shrek - May 12th, 2004 at 01:58 PM

My pain is shared, thank you.

My cap key and spare key WERE in the ashtray until I thought it would be more sensible to have them on the keyring.....grrrrrrr!!!!

To be honest, I think I'm going to have to wreck the current cap and use one of those awful plastic ones from a servo until I can find a decent replacement, with my luck I'll be testing the 'do people steal petrol' theory in the meantime!

Don't go and do anything that you may regret. Contact a local locksmith and see if they know of any way of removing it. They may just have the key code on a database, you never know?
I would try every avenue you can.
Keep us posted.

:party YAY!!!!!!!!!! Found them.............

Or rather my girlfriend remembered where she hid them on Sunday night when I wanted to go buy a packet of cigarettes whilst drunk (we're giving up, see..)

She only just remembered hiding them......

I should be annoyed, but I'm really happy!!
