hey guys, went to have a look at what the owner told me was a 75 kombi/2L. I looked at the plate behind the driver's seat and says for 8 seats. I suspect it might be a "deluxe" only because i have seen pics of ones that said they where and they had trim down the sides and shiny VW eblem on nose and shiny front grill. Are there distinguishing features that will confirm if is a deluxe? And what is the difference if it is a deluxe anyway? Looks to be mostly original paint, a few areas have a different shade. The owner was very nice and lent me a magnet(I forgot mine), found two small areas on drivers side about 4cm diameter that didnt stick. Magnet stuck under all windo sills but there was some significant rust present in one side sills and back window sill, looked minor in other windows an in normal spot underneath sliding door in front part of kick panel, drivers side kick was ok. Some rust with thin metal underneath the rubber pads on the step into front seats. The lower edge of the sliding door was slightly bent, the rest of the panels where straight with very small dings. the roof had thinned paint and starting to show metal and there is a small depression in roof where garage door fell on(ouch!!). Has an oil leak but has passed rego NSW last month. well arches looked good and the underneath looked ok crawling under as best i could in the dirt!! Steering felt pretty tight and motor sounds like a VW(gorgeous). Currently has a bed in it but has the back seat in fair condition stored that come with bus, no middle seat. No middle seat belts, the head lining is original and in fair conditon, except for the part where the owners dog chewed it up in the back left panel next to the back hatch door!!
Good thing I can type huh, forgot to tell you that I also forgot my camera in my excitement of going to look at what might be my first kombi!! I will be having it looked at by local vw specialist to give an estimate on welding all rust/etc and preparing for a full respray/etc. So, just wanted to share and ask about the deluxe thing and if it makes it anymore special so that i can value the kombi and make sure I am getting "value". Anyway thanks, and will get pics in a few days. By the way asking price is 4K. :beer

Dont know all features, but I know that they have air running to the back inside... that is... they have air vents in the front doors (looks like an arm rest inside front doors) this connects with a small vent that allows air into the back of the kombi.. (connects to round air vent same as dash ones behind front seats in metal panel)... and they have an ashtray in this same metal pannel (behind front seats).. can't think of other differences at moment...

As far as I know, the Kombi was not produced as a deluxe, only the microbus.. Check if the vin starts with 241.. If so, it a deluxe microbus..

it is a microbus will check the vin thanks
