harley blinkers are the GO i think..... theyre bout 5-10cm in diam and dont look too out of place, pik up sum repros...... but better to ger some semaphores and rock them ...... or on the front if you dont have blinkers, the nipple lights on US cars looks shit hot ..... same as the kombi nipple lights

Put them in the bumper like on my Smoothieeee. or in the headlight or on the stock later model position on the top of the guard.

No !! highly illegal unless You have a 1957 Holden which is the only Australian Car I have seen them on.. probably still illegal.. red flashing Blinkers.... only in the USA.... that's why they have all red tail lamps in the US...
The Harley Davidson blinkers arn't expensive... I saw them somewhere and they are quite reasonable in price.. then they are attached to the bumper brackets... easy...
They are probably the most common [non genuine] light used on Beetles.. Blinkers are supposed to be able to be seen from the side also, that is why the side blinkers on cars... If You put the normal VW blinkers on the guards it looks like You have used later model guards..
I'll see if I can find a photo of them..

they can hang down under the bumper, on the bumper stay bracket or as all the ones I have seen sit above the bumpers.
The are just a round amber bullet type lens with a chrome back... and the thread maybe chromed too...

I have the US spec tail lights which are all red (red indicator) and have had no problem with cops at all (have driven past them many times) if ur still paranoid and this what i may do in the future is keep the all red tails and put orange coloured bulbs in side so that it flashes orange but still looks red

Got the idea off my Audi as the cluster is all red but shines orange

All red looks sooo much cooler than red/amber tails
