I am pretty confident in saying that it is a Supa Sports buggy.......

they were built in Qld, in the 70's (i think) and they made bout three differant types, two SWB and a LWB( which i own)

Correct me if Im wrong, or back me up

hmmm i think gertrude is a good name :P

but yeah i have to agree with the previous response - made in Nth Qld in the 60's/70's they had a couple of other models .. that were seen a fair bit through NT ... so i'm told ... they are just a buggy with a differnet shell !!

I have no idea!:(

'Gladiator' would be a good name though. Certainly looks like some sort of warrior!!
What a beast!

Yep, this one is definately a Mk1 Supa Sports SWB buggy. The story I got on production was that they produced them in Melbourne, just accross from the prison, when the factory burnt down. I got this story from several sources and then finally the same story from the owner of the servo out front of our place, as he was living just down the road and saw the fire and knew the building. He's also got one (Supa Sports) stashed away in a shed out back of Kingaroy somewhere and won't even tell me where it is. Appearantly it's been under a cover in the shed for well over 20 years.

He's got a news paper clipping burried somewhere about the fire, and when he finds it, he'll take a copy for me which would be pretty good...

Oh, and as for this one here in the pic links you posted. Gemini seats? Really...

Well I am a little slow, but yes it is a MK1 Supa Sports and they were made in the 70's here in Brisbane. There was a guy on teh Fraser Run who had one he had bought new in the 70's and had is ever since. There is several copies around that look very similiar but the bonnet ridge is teh give away.
MK1 - was the SWB as shown in your pictures
Mk2 - same shape but a LWB
MK3 - SWB again but with a different bonnet and shape, Gordon Boatfield owns a Mk3. I think they were made to give more of a sporty look to the buggy.

As for manx Badges - the Manx Club should be selling them early next year.
