dr. kar k. this morning on triple j was having a go at a guy for trying to drag race a bug. he said he was brave for trying to make a vw go fast.

So does anyone know who it was?
One stern email for DR Karl just sent.
maybe we should give him the aussie vee dubbers url.
i have no respect for that man whatsoever. he said a while back on national television (the Glasshouse) that public schools are cr@p and he would only ever send his child to a private school because the otehrs do not offer a good enough edutation for him. what utter BULLSH!T.:cussing
I would never send my children to a private school.
Every person I have known that went to a private school had very little or no skills to defend or protect themselves in social situations.
A child with a happy and friend-filled life is more important to me than a chilld with a brilliant HSC result.
Hehehe I heard it too this morning. It was kind of funny
Hey, c'mon please lay off of us private school guys,
it wasn't our choice.
Then again i did spend a year at a public high school which was pretty cool.
Lokita, i went to a public primary, where i was badly bullied and rejected, completely cast out, to the extent that it took me 3-4 years to (mostly) recover my self esteem ad faith in myself, i am now in year 12 at a private (although not prestigious) school, and i yearn for the people whom i grew up with, i just cannot stand some of the morons and the fake liers that i school with now. it was my public school life that made me who i am and my time at private school that taught me just how lucky i am to be who i am. and just as a side note for the Dr, when i entered private school in year 7, my public primary had set me up so well in Maths that i did not learn anything really new or challengine until year nine.
Hmm, I reckon in _some_ fields all aussie schools are behind.
I did grade 3+4 in Switzerland, and was the dumbest kid in the class in most stuff we were learning: maths, language, etc... The basics. Then I came
back here, and was suddenly top at maths. I managed to hang on to this lead for a while, but now I'm no better than average once again. ;-)
On the other hand, in Switzerland stuff like general knowledge was behind ours, at grade 3 level, I think.
I have had really great teachers a few times, ones that were interested and knew how to really get the most from kids (in both private and public
schools); but overall, aussie education doesn't impress me much. Yeah, there were snobs at the private one I went to for a while also. Now I'm at
Uni, and there seems to be a preponderance of privates around: I am in eng though now, science was different.
The funding thing is a real tricky debate too hey! (Runs away now!)
Cheers, Aurel
I hate to bring the thread back on topic, but has anyone received a reply of any sort from Dr Karl?
Shall check my email when i get to work tomorrow.
though i will share with you my closing line to Dr Karl
" Rod penrose's beetle can do an E.T. of *.96 over the 1/4 mile, thats almost enough time to have 9 microsleeps."
that's gold. well said.

actually lokita, i was sorta trying to agree with u, in the way that neither type of school can be judged purely on the fee type, and that the most important thing is the people.
Yeah, I kinda figured you were, but I just wanted to make sure I hadn't offended anyone.
On another note, just got a reply from Dr Karl,
"Dear Lokita,
Howdy, and thanks for the email. Actually, I used to own a 59 VW, and a buncha Kombis, so I love them..

I am the product of both private and public school education. I had a partial scholarship at Melbourne Church of England Grammar School. It was
challenging in the wide range of subjects such as Latin and English (where grammar was still taught) and expected behavior helped my character
immeasurably. I use to this day the diary skills they drilled into us. Plus I owe them an immense debt of gratitude for making me into a raving,
foaming at the mouth atheist. Nothing like shoving religion down a kid's throat whilst teaching them to think independently.
However, Melbourne High School was a totally different ball game. For the first time in my life, I was near the bottom 1/3rd of my class. They really
helped me lift my game. Although a slacker by nature, I did well there. Melbourne High grooms their students as leaders by default, which is why we
basically own "Who's Who" since 1927.
Private schools, in my opinion, buy you a particular social peer group. The quality of teaching at my private school, whilst good, wasn't that much
higher than Mt Macedon Primary School where I was before that. I think what made the difference is the 1-on-1 teacher - parent relationship; basically
every week, your diary needed to be annotated by a parent who could see the demerits and "blues" given you. This didn't occur at Melbourne High,
and our class sizes were much bigger. Melbourne Grammar gave me a lot of prodding, which is what I needed at the time. Melbourne High treated you like
adults and expected you to be self-sufficient.
Would I send my kids to Melbourne Grammar (or its sister school) or Melbourne High (or its sister school)? I am against single sex schools,
particularly in the formative social stages. I think some blame of why I am still single at 33 comes from this lack. Plus I am fat, which doesn't
help. I would definitely not send them to a religious school as they waste valuable learning time with rubbish. I would consider Melbourne High /
McRobertson if they wanted to go down that path especially if they are bright, but I would ensure that they are in a co-educational school up until
then. Hopefully, the long awaited merger of McRob / Melbourne High will happen sooner or later and it will not be an issue for me.
Andrew
I would be a shithead like I am no matter what school I went to.
I actually went to a RC Co-Ed Private secondary school, and I will tell you the boys and girls got up to some shiat. There was sex, drugs, R&R and
many atheists born out of it all.
The school did not breed us, we bred it!
In my past (limited) experience, it was the Catholic school girls who were the dirtiest whilst I was in high school at South Yarra station. There was
very little they weren't up for.

Put down by Dr Karl.
"Dear Lee (please call me Karl),
Howdy, and thanks for the email, and the lovely pic. Can I suggest that you listen to the show (via the net), and you will be able to hear exactly
what I said, as opposed to a second-hand report of what I supposedly said.
Cheers, karl"
Man i miss school
I went to a catholic boys school and did we get up to mischief
The best part about it was that the school organised school dances once a month and we would invite 3 girls schools and us being the only boys school
it rocked
If u didnt pick up at least 3 girls a nite there was something wrong with ya:P
the ratio between girls to boys rocked :bounce
