I just got a beetle 1967. what is the white knob on the floor next to the gear stick, it can be turned. ???????

It's the heater, demister. thats if the heater works

this controls the "heaters" !

what it does is open/close the "heater boxes" on your motor to allow hot air to enter the car. If they are working correctly you should feel hot air coming out of the vents on either side of the car (down near the floor on the side) as well as the vents below the front windscreen.

Anti clockwise is on, clockwise is off. It will probably be very hard to turn on (mine is!).
