what is a trojan?

Just wonderin what a trojan is in computer world and what do they to the the puter, my new virus scan just picked one up in my system. ( Mc Afee) my old one didn't ( Nortons)

trojan refeers to the trojan horse..

it is basically a virus, that couls potentially do anything.. that is disguised as a harmless program.. trojans generally allow a baddie access to your system.. not cool :(

a trojan is a virus which uses a server program on your computer that opens itself up in your system and opens the required ports ETC for the client on the hackers computer or whoever is responsible for the attack in which they then manipulate your computer or steal files or do damage ETC......some trojans are Netbus, Sub7, Back Orifice ......firewalls are the best protection short of not using the internet.

sometimes things get past u cant always stop everything.....what firewall are u using? the mcaffee one? .....get zone alarm

i needa re-set up my smoothwall linux firewall box... it had a REALLY fragile HDD, andmy bro knocked it over and it corrupted!!! ARGHHHHHHH

cant beat a hardware firewall w/ no netbios to have attacked lol
