does your dak have a name or a cool number plate if so what are they.
i had a 74 pop top kombi name FURPHY
i have a 74 kombi name SPROCKET
and i also have a 65 kombi and continued the name from the previous owner and its ANNABELLE.
i know this is strange but one time whilst surfing the net i found a site dedicated to just what people call their vws
The number plate on our '76 camper is KOM123, hence my signature My
daughter Amy calls the Kombi 'Vegemite' cause it's yellow and use to have black wheels!
I dubbed out Baja the Dog-O-War for a few reasons.
Pink Floyd released a contrversial song called the Dogs-O-War which was nearly banned not because of the language as it has none but the social
climate at the time after the 2nd World War closer to vietman when civil liberties were a hot topic.
We arn't allowed to have any pets, had to get permission for even fish - we didn't so don't tell our strata or they may kick us out.
Anyhow with my dog (Bob) gone the Baja would be our new pet.
The other reason is the societal representation of the common beetle. It is so many things to so many people which is one of the few Greman icons to
survive and proliferate after the war. As I always wanted a warbug - the Baja is better than that in that it can go mostly everwhere, requires little
effort to fix stuff and will hopefully not let us down and keeps us safe in Australias rough environments.
Haven't got a plate thats special, any plate saying I can drive it on the road to the next offroad track will do.

My old 55
was called slow n low, hence my name aswell. The name largley came about because the bug was lowered, and the fact that the beastie boys recorded an
old run dmc song called slow and low. ie I am also a beastie Boys fan aswell as a v dub nut!
Damian

i have 3 number plates... the one i've got on my 69 is cool, TNK-72 - TNK as in tank- unfortunately it's not a 72 bug.. though it's
still pretty good!
my 1974Lbug has VDU-82c as in VDub to see.
thought of this myself when i first bought the car.. just a little gimiick thing you know.. but the car deserved it with it's white pearl and
shmicko paintjob.
all good.
my plate is tymles it was the only way i could think of spelling timeless in 6 letters
i had ovl-00k on my beetle. it stood for 'oval look' as it was a '66 with a grafted '54 backside.
my bus plate is of course bus-80y. obviuos.
we had a convertable called 'deathtrap' i posted an article previously as to why.
other cars and names i have had include a '69 beetle named deloris, and the imitator was known as 'lil egypt' as the print of the
interior looked a little egyptian. my split is known by some as 'the bug catcher' as we drive everywhere withthe safaris open and catch
large numbers of bees, dragon flies, bugs and even wasps. always having to open her up at the destinations just to make it safe for the return trip.
