Thanks for all the advise. Ended up going with NRMA for $430 fully comp as Shannons wouldn't insure me as I had a UK license Had to take a bit of a hit on the agreed value aswell as NRMA would only go up
to $5900 on a '72 Kombi (I payed $7500 for it).
Still a lot cheaper than I payed in the UK anyway so Im happy just
better make sure I don't write it off
If You live in Australia don't You have to change Your drivers licence????
You only have 7 days from one state to another...
what about from one country to another...
Shannons may have been a better deal plus they give You the car if its written off.... so why didn't You change Your licence???

I'm only here on a 4 year working visa at the moment so I'm not sure if I can get an Australian license until I have residency. It was all a bit of
a rush thing buying the van but I'll have a look into it for when the insurance comes up for renewal.
I think you can keep driving on a UK license up until you have residency which also means you cant get any demerits only a fine (as a friend found out
the other day)
VIGIL!!!!!!!!!! Call them. They do anything like shannons does and around the same price. Modified cars etc..... 1800 500 669
don't go with Shannons. They wouldn't give me a covernote. No insurance unless I had an immobiliser fitted, but I hadn't even picked up the car yet. catch 22. can't insure without the immobiliser. can't get the immobiliser without getting the car!! they were useless.
fit the immobiliser at pickup?
takes like an hour at most.. friend did it last week when he picked up his 1967 MGB Roadster..no probs, and it's sweet!
Dont touch NRMA. Go with Shannons.... They are the best for enthusiasts...
