HINZE DAM CRUISE - Everyone Welcome
Mrs M - June 6th, 2004 at 10:00 AM

On Sunday, 13 June we have organised a Hinze Dam Cruise. Starting at the BP Servo at Yatala. The cruise will leave at 8.30am sharp so remember to set the alarms.

We will be stopping at Picnic spots that have cooking facilities so bring along a BBQ Breakfast and Lunch.

We will be heading down behind the Gold Coast towards Tweed Heads and then back up the Highway.

If you have a VW that does not go at 100klms per hour that is fine as we are out to cruise for the day not run a race.

who went

Midlife crisis - June 13th, 2004 at 08:28 PM

Okay, we had Herbie and Mel, Ratty 63 and Michelle, Mrs M and ibmoknegawsklov, Hugabug, Herbies mum, Midlife Crisis and Swampwitch, and Boozer.

We had a great run to the dam, then to Uki, and on to Mullumbimby. While having lunch a young guy stopped by and told us about his 71 beetle he is restoring and was talking VW's with us for quite a while. His mate stayed in the car they arrived in (must not be a dub lover).

Trip home was eventful, with Boozer running on petrol fumes by the time we eventually found a fuel station open, and then getting caught in the traffic at Tweed Heads.

Sounds great wish we were there

Yep, there were quite a few of those - note to self: must let types down to a reasonable level before the next run - 28 psi in the front and 34 in the back is just too much!

Thanks to Tony for taking the time to organise this one for us! A really good day out:thumb

Had a sore left ankle (clutch up, clutch down, clutch up,....) by the time we got home due to the almost two hours we spent sitting in the crawling traffic at Tweed - Bring on the Tugan bypass! Probably would have been quicker (and definatly more interesting!) to go back the way we came!

Shame more of you couldn't make it along....

C'ya all again soon.

Does anyone realize that including all the time spent waiting in traffic (damn the governments for not working it out sooner) - we could have driven to Valla!

ratty 63 - June 15th, 2004 at 04:33 PM

...we actually commented on that on the way home! :D

Well, at least we know that all the cars that attended will make it to 'Bucca OK!
