dad was tellin me about an old firnd of his called Lorry Campfield who owned a VW workshop on pennant hills road and used to race formula V's.
anyone know what happened to him?

Are you sure you're not thinking of Gary Campbell? He used to race Formula Vees, and in 1968 he also co-drove the only Type 3 to ever race in the Bathurst 500.

He used to own his own Auto Electrics shop in Liverpool in Sydney, but has now passed away to the big VW workshop in the sky - not sure when but the late '80s I think.

I spoke to Boris who used to race with Lorry in the early 70s. Your right he did run a BP service station VW workshop at Hornsby. I have been trying to find himself for sponsorship for the Nats but i am sure he has closed down about 3 or 4 years ago.

Give Boris VVDS a call as he knows a Chris Lewis who also used to race Vs and will give you his number, so u can ring to ask about Lorry.
