BAD weekend.

Ok, here's a short tale for you all.

My wagon was suffering from a severe case of 'stuffed-carbie-itis' in december, and with all the hot weather she was running like a dog. So, seeing as i live so close to the city, I chose to travel more places via public transport. Good for the environment... and the wallet at times.

fast forward 6 months, and my ride is still parked in the back yard. not running. with only a regular roll back and forward to keep things from seizing.

I then get all moitivated on Saturday, chase up a reco'd set of carbs, fit 'em and Vrroooom put put cough vrooomm ... she is back to life. I break out the polish, and by saturday evening she was looking better than ever, and running like a dream.

On sunday I drive her for an hour or so to a relo's farm... without so much as a backfire or a flatspot, and enjoy a lovely evening with the family.
The next morning i load the luggage, attempt to start her and...

click. thunk.
click. thunk.

hmm. the engine cant be seized? it must be a starter motor?
i try the push start, the jump start, the damn peppermint twist, and i get nothing. I finally turn it over by hand with a screwdriver, and then it obliges me with a start...

click, rrow, rrow, roow... bababba vrooooooom...... blurp blurp blurp clunk.....oil everywhere.

[my auntie points out that there is something leaking out. i sigh]

and thats the end of her.
engine is stuffed.. oil everywhere. and i dunno what went wrong. I think it was a case of valve or pushrod failure coupled with a reaalllly cold night = breakage.

... i had to get a lift home, and leave my beloved locked up at the farm... sigh.
So, now i'm back to square one.
anyone in melbourne have a stocky type 3 1600 to swing my way? I'm thinking of selling her if i can get a reliable engine in there... i need a break from car repairs.
i'm obviously willing to pay for the engine, but i dont want / need a rebuilt workhorse... just something that is standard and reliable...

anyhoo.. thanks for reading.
time for me to mope around the house some more.
