Hey guys,

I have a '75 camper with the original 'factory fitted' head unit, but I have just bought a CD-Tuner and some 6" speakers to revolutionise the sound experience

My question is that as a backpacker I dont have a tool kit and was wondering if someone who lived in the S.E. QLD area Toowoomba-Brissy-Ipswich etc who was a whizz at fitting car stereo's could spend an afternoon helping me please??

Payment would of course be a trip to the pub!

pay a car audio place to do the install......... at least you should get a guarentee on it.....
and it will get down right the first time...........

Won't I have problems because the head unit is used and not purchased from the installer??

In the UK its a real pain to get anything fitted to a car unless the item was bought from that store!!

no an installer can install 2nd hand gear. The way to go even an auto electirician

not an auto elec......... car audio place......... much much better idea if you need speakers fitted as well....
the generally charg more if it isnt purchased from them...... but it is done right....... and presumably well........ make sure they solder all the wires.... not just using connetors and stuff

Dak Ute, can you recommend anyone on the Gold coast or in Brissy?

There are a couple of places in Brisbane i know of that install car audio systems. There is Gold Coast Car sound in browns plains right near the grand plaza, Fist Audio in wacol (I heard their installs were pretty good but the brands they sell are not that great) or northfield at mt gravatt or on the magic mile. Just look car audio up in the yellow pages or on citysearch.com.au for the closest one.

dak, I have sent them (Strathfield) an email with regards to fitting pre purchased equipment but to no avail I am yet to recieve a response!

Do you know if they would adhere to my needs? (sorry to ask you but you seem to be in the know/trade)

sure is......... 4 hours from brissy bundaberg is......... not a bad city to visit...... its got the rum distillery and stuff........ if you have trouble getting it done down there i can do it when you get up this way
