The LATE bidder always get the Ebay item
:alien
Should we hunt them down and ....... Them?
no. but ive learnt that sometimes youhave to put in your max.
I was bidding on the Type 3 tail lights and got outbid at the last possible moment!
i was bidding on a supercharger and got out bid by $10 in the last 2 minutes
Count down the last seconds, and make a bid to your limit. It always works for me. If you want it, you have to be there at the end and remove all possibility for another person's bid.
yes, i bid on a pingu video set and was nearly outbid in the last 20mins. Luckily i checked it and then sat there for then next 20 mins to make sure I
didnt miss out. I would have been in big trouble if I did!!
From the little guy, not hubby!!

thats wha ti did for my ghia. i went and watched. put in my max and then watched as grey bidded. in the end i adjusted a little jsut to be safe, but
was no worries...
only like winning bids when it is a the next highest bidders price. always makes me feel likei got a bargain. not like when i am doing the chasing.
here is a point for all who might consider there home for auction. dont! ever!. as youwill only ever end up with the 2nd highest amount. and if youdo
maintain your high reserve so you can at least negotiate.
didnt i get off track some how. sorry. i used to love property.

What i doo is open 2 or 3 ebay windows on the submit bid page on that item, lets say the bid is $100, i bid $110 in one window, $120 in another and so
on, then 10 seconds b4 the end, send one then another and another usually 3 times within the 10 seconds, you gotta be quick, unless the other bidder/s
have not gone more, or doing what i am doing i usually win the item. i have a ebay user guide if anybody wants it, i'll email is too yous, a great
read!!
Andy
And that exactly why i don't use it anymore!
Dan
I must admit i have had bad dealings with ebay and paypal (a ebay company), but its there and ppl will always use it untill the innevitable happens, i
use it rarely now but still have a look every now and then,
Andy
I do everything either by local pickup if possible, or COD. I'm yet to have a major problem with australia post.
Why not just place your absolute maximum bid to begin with?
I have never had any problems with any item I've bought from ebay and almost all of them have come from overseas and been paid by Paypal.

Like others have said...I also only bid in the last 10 seconds and put in the maximum I'm prepared to pay. You can download a program(can't remember what it is now sorry) that enters the bid for you in the last 5 seconds. If you have broadband and bid in the last 8-10 seconds it beats these programs (which is what I do).Was going to bid on the pedal car but decided not to worry about it. There have been a few on there lately.....
I actually wrote this around Midday today.. and forgot to post it until NOW... Lee
Most of My items bought [over 60] on ebay have been in Australia...
Only one item never received... about $10-00.. [in aust too]
all others OK... Overseas I use PayPal or wherever paypal is used... otherwise direct debit...
My Son was offered a DVD He was bidding for [after He lost the auction] by the same selling person.... He never did receive that DVD... direct
debit... in Sydney
There is a little computer program out there that sits and waits until the last possible moment and if its within Your max bid You will win it...
I sat up till 130am one morning to win something on ebay..
I kept on being the winning bidder until the END... But I didn't WIN, so I sent an email the person who won it...
I said I thought She would have been in bed asleep at 130am ... She said She was... and her computer program was doing her bidding... Never loses She
said... I never did find out the name of that program...

PS.. 1.30am is a stupid time to finish an auction !!!!

I go onto ebay, find things VERY cheap I would like... and bid in $5 steps.. until I think I don't want it that much.... but in the mean time I've
put the price a lot higher...
Many times someone has already put their top bid in... if they had waited until the last few minutes... and then bid their top money they probably
would have won it... and saved a heap too...
Especially if only two people are bidding... You are bidding against each other and the price keeps going up & up...
if they had NOT done this and both had waited until the last 5 minutes... One of them would have bought a Bargain....
I know I have done this Myself when I really want something.
I think something in Your Brain takes over... and You forget about the money... You just have to WIN WIN WIN

Thats another reason I keep telling Myself " I don't want anything on ebay" "I will NOT look" "I don't want to buy anything"

I was going to buy a CD Player from ebay... a few months ago... So I watched and read and bid & bid and lost each time... the good Sony etc brands
were selling $300-$400 etc too much for Me...
I then decided to look at the Seller who was selling All these cheaper Akai & other New CD Players from Sydney....
She had had a few Negative feedbacks... so I emailed these people...
This seller was a good emailer until something went wrong... then She didn't reply at all...
One woman had bought a portable CD player for Her young Nephew.. it didn't work.. so She sent it back.. and then the seller said it didn't arrive...
end of story..
One fellow said that She [seller] was OK even though the CD player was broken and He had to get it repaired... and when He enquired to the head
office about the brand of CD player He had bought.. they replied "We do Not make that model" this fellow thought someone had sold the seller a bad
batch of units !!!!
Another said the units were NOT NEW, but it looked like they had been installed and uninstalled...
So, after this, I decided that a well known SHOP was a better option... then I found in My wardrobe, a brand New cassette player AM FM Radio, still in
its box... bought around the time I bought My Beetle... so Now it is in the Dash...
and I don't really need anything from ebay....
"I must not look on ebay" "I must not look on ebay."

Lee... a retired ebayer... [for today anyway]

it wasn't me but I do slide in at the last moment to grab something...sorry if I've done this to you butI only do it on things I need and am going
to use on the splitty or bug straight away...sorry
Rob
I got my splitty from ebay and very happy, but of course needs a lot of work (fun work I might add)
which splitty? the one off Jason "type one"
late 50's ??
Did you find out who beat you to the peddle car????
OK, we know you all spend almost all your waking hours on ebay!!! :P
I'm too scared to venture in in case I loose control of myself!!! Scary!!!....I may be living in my VW in a back street somewhere
:jesus
Wah ..... I was on The Samba this week...say no more!!!!
I see that nice white one owner SuperBug went for around $7400 on ebay....
Good price for a standard Beetle...
If I had a spare $7400 I would have bid on it...
Lee
PS.. garumbal is well known in Qld...

Cool...I used to love my peddle car...Hope the lead is fruitful!!!
I've had the same experience as you and others....always..or nearly always pipped at the last second of the auction
I never learn to be there at that least moment in it all...possibly because I'm at work, or somewhere away from the puter :cry
OK I'd learnt the trick at wine auctions online...just have some friends willing to take a few dozen off your hands:thumb
