Dean, Talk to Australian VW performance and talk to Mick. Tell him what your thinking and you never know, might be a good chance to see what our motors are really putting out:o

Might scare some people though....Iv'e seen some embarrased faces walk away from there:(

fatboy - December 18th, 2002 at 10:20 PM

I'd be happy if mine can move the rollers :thumb

Crashman - December 19th, 2002 at 02:12 PM

id would be really interested if i had my engine finished and in the car. BTW do u need special dynos for FWD?

Grey 57 - December 19th, 2002 at 10:37 PM

Thanks Stelth, I'll give Mick a call and have a chat.
Any other starters. Will aim for late January 03, assuming we get some interest.:beer

No, but they do need to be strapped down properly, which is why at the last dyno day in Melbourne earlier this year, I couldn't have hoonbug tested. :-(

But if we do manage a day, I'd like to get mine tested (1.8t with 110 kW at the crank, wonder what it is at the wheels), so let's ask for a session with the appropriate equipment. :-)

Grey 57 - December 19th, 2002 at 10:45 PM

Andrew, I'll ask about that when I call Mick. :bounce

Grey 57 - January 4th, 2003 at 07:22 AM

Just wanted to bring this one to the fornt again to see if there is more interest.
I will be away for most of the rest of Jan, so I'm thinking Feb now. Will give Mick at AVWP a call next week. :thumb

Grey 57 - February 2nd, 2003 at 09:24 PM

Thought I would dive into the archives ad drag this one out again. Sounds like the Sydney one was a hoot.
How about it Melbournians. Register your interest, no good doing it with just the few we have so far. The Dyno man is going to want some numbers.
Dean

Stealth - February 3rd, 2003 at 04:26 PM

I'm in.
If I can get the Notch up on to the rollers!:o

Pat - February 3rd, 2003 at 04:51 PM

I'm interested, if I can turn the rollers. I wonder if the Dyno goes down into single digits.

KruizinKombi - February 3rd, 2003 at 06:23 PM

I'd be happy to have a run if I had something worth running, which I haven't. :(

Flying VW - February 3rd, 2003 at 07:05 PM

I would give it ago.

lugnuts - February 4th, 2003 at 07:08 AM

I dont think you melbourneuns will be havin a dyno day you need at least 30 people to confirm there commin so that 10 turn up.:D

Flying VW - February 4th, 2003 at 03:12 PM

And you base this conclusion on what....

HAHAHA 110 kW in a modern car with a Turbo HAHAHA LOL
That's half of what my Car has.

Grey 57 - February 4th, 2003 at 03:59 PM

OK here's the deal.
Spoke to Mick from Australian VW Performance Centre in Croydon today and he was most helpful.
The Dyno is a Dyno Dynamics machine.
Not sure what was used in Sydney but if it was the same type then the results could be roughly compared.
Mick will also hook up the diagnostics machine ( line up the tail pipe) to see how the car is running under load.
Looking at about 30mins per car.
Two runs - Warm Up and Power Run
Mick will try to organise another set of rollers for the NB's & Golfs with FWD.
Cost for the Dyno & Mick for the day is $600. Not bad for place, man and machine for a full day.
Earliest we can get in is the middle of March.
Ideal numbers for the day is 15 to 20. This will bring the cost per head down to $30 to $40.
So we need to get some firm numbers happening.
Probably need to get the money to Mick before the day too. Think the fairest thing is to pay before the day. This way the cost is not blown out for those who turn up.
Give us some feedback on who should collect the money.
But most of all put ya hand up to come along.
Should be a lot of fun.
I for one am looking forward to find out how much tire shredding power the 1600SP is producing. Gotta beat Che's score.

Flying VW - February 4th, 2003 at 04:30 PM

Put me down for 3 car's

Grey 57 - February 4th, 2003 at 05:26 PM

Oh almost forgot, how does Saturday the 22nd of March suit everyone. It looks like the only clear weekend.
We have the Melb GP on the 9th of March and the Kennet River trip on the 15th / 16th.
If thats OK I'll pencil the date in with Mick at AVWPC.

Flying VW, I maybe should have said the cost per car will be $30 to $40 if we get the numbers. That OK.

I have also been thinking that we need to have a firm minimum of say 15 cars , payed up to proceed. That is confirm the day and pay the money to AVWPC.

If it all falls over, who ever has payed will get the money refunded. OK.

One more thing, is we need to cut it off at about 20 cars to ensure that we have enough time to get every one thru.
