Just bought a splitster in Melbourne... anyone know the cheapest way to cart it up to Brissy??????????
drive it?? or is it not running?
I used TNT when I bought mine.
I can drive it...but still taking a risk as i dont know the full history of the motor??? reconditioned 12yrs ago, sitting for the best part of that,
and done 4500 km since then!!!
1200 in split....you think strong enough for the trip????
I bought my splitty from S.A & had it transported over to Melbourne with Autotrans express. It cost me $250 & was delivered to my door.Saved alot of trouble as far as i'm concerned without the stress of not knowing whether it would break down with not knowing the real condition of the engine.
Its drivable although the longest trip I used it for was 45mins. Also being unregistered, I don't think you can drive it even if you get a permit. Permit allows driving for RWC purposes only as far as I know. Will do some calling around on Friday Ross
you get your engine and vin number and take it in pay about $50 and you can drive it home where ever home is as long as you nominate where you are taking it to and do not deviate too much ,its not just for roadworthy stuff , i took my baja to the nationals last year from albury to sydney and back oh yeah tou can get 7 ,14 or 28 day permits
congrats on the purchase ross....can't wait to see the beast.....what are you plans with it?
catch up soon.....
That last comment made me laugh>>>>>>>>>>>
thanx guys, so many choices ha ha ha ...such is life.
shit you can get a flight from bris to melbourne cheap ,my advice is get karman ghia to get it serviced first and replace ALL THE FUEL LINES and buy an old mattress from vinnies and go for it oh yeah find out if you can nominate another car on your RACQ just in case
cut out the floorpan and take the family on a road trip, flinstone style
