Hmm, how does it work? Whenever I click on chat room at the top, this comes up (see pic).

Then what? I click the connect thing, and put in my AVD name aggri1, click OK, but then...

Failed to connect to server: Unknown Error: java.net.ConnectException:
Connection timed out: Connect

Oh thanks. I saw that after posting, edited the above post. That doesn't work though...

Failed to connect to server: Unknown Error: java.net.ConnectException:
Connection timed out: Connect

Er, hmmm...

aggri1 - June 26th, 2004 at 07:55 PM

Well, I think Java is installed, it didn't say I didn't have Java. However, just to make sure I went to that topic, followed the link to the Java download thing, and guess what: I haven't got enough priveleges to install it. These freakin' computer nerds running the Uni computers seem to think the world's out to get them, we can't do squat these days.:cussing:cussing:cussing

I hate permissions!

However, I still think that Java is already installed...

In the System control panel it says:
Microsnot Windows 2000
5.00.2195
Service Pack 4
(approximately).

aggri1 - June 26th, 2004 at 07:59 PM

CRIKEY - I just saw the bit at the bottom:
Intel(R) Pentium 4 CPU 2.80GHz
...
1,030,896 KB RAM

Whoa! I had no idea. That's insanely fast and loaded!

aggri1 - June 26th, 2004 at 08:04 PM

Hmm, well in the prefs for internet exploder I see:
"Use Java 2 v1.4.1_01 for <applet> (requires restart)"
The option is checked, so I presume it's installed.

Below that there's "Java console enabled (reqiures restart)" etc...

Stupid windoze.

aggri1 - June 26th, 2004 at 08:09 PM

Eh, huh? What're longjohns?

aggri1 - June 26th, 2004 at 08:14 PM

Aha, thanks.

I just noticed that there are heaps of ants all over the place. There shouldn't be anything in here they're intereseted in!

Can't say I need the longjohns. I wear shorts almost everywhere.

aggri1 - June 26th, 2004 at 08:21 PM

Nope, can't see any cheese in the CD drive. There are however another (approx) 20 computers here, so maybe there is some cheese elsewhere.

I think the ants are just out to make trouble on a Saturday night.

aggri1 - June 26th, 2004 at 08:31 PM

Oh, I just found a thing called Netscape Install on the computer. I'll see what it does.

Ooh - "Distributing Application"

tick...tick...tick

(*

While I'm waiting: it's now 8:26 according to this computer, in Melbourne.

I think the ants saw that I was onto them. There are only a few left.

Better talk VW for a bit, or I'll get kicked off:
Oh, I had the timing done the other day on my bus. Does the timing change with time? I mean, does it need to be done regularly? It's not like there's a belt that slips, in the VW, is there? I don't know how to find TDC, so I couldn't do it myself... She runs quite nicely now, yay, although the mechanic reckons she's a little 'tired'.

Now 8:29 and the app is still distributing. I was gonna wait until it finished to post this, but I can't be bothered.

Oh wait, now it's done. Lets see what happens.

Edit: well, same problem with netscape (6.2). Same error. I think it may have to do with the Uni computer setup. Proxies and stuff. Possibility?

Well I thought if the dizzy clamp wasn't tight enough it might do it, but that seemed like a kinda "der" thing to have happen.

Oh I just saw this titled "timing moving":

Oh and the chat still doesn't work for me. I think I'll give up.
