Advice needed: 1800 engine $400, don't know much else

Hey all, long time no post (computer troubles)

Was visiting a mechanic today and noticed an old 1800 engine (complete less flyweel) up the back looking lonely. Asked about it and how much. Guy tells me its been sittin for 4-5 years on a shelf (does'nt know anything else about it) (might have come with the business). Anyway its right up the back so I can't get to it (yet) and have a closer look. Managed to reach the dipstick and she still has her oil.
Guy wants $400 for it,,
What do you guys/gals/Miriams think ? Will it be worth a resto? or will the long sit have caused damage ?

ps, Picked up an old Bay (75) the other day for parts and will wreck it soon (keep you posted)

Cheers

Dave

really hard to say

I take it you mean a Type 4 motor for a bus??

If it comes with carbs, heater boxes and exhaust then it is probablly worth it for those parts and bits.

if you dont need it then it is too much
