Where do i mount all this into a beetle
VDUBXTC - July 2nd, 2004 at 04:58 PM

just taken the stereo out of the commodore and wanting to put it into the beetle. but where do you mount everything

VDUBXTC - July 2nd, 2004 at 05:01 PM

still another 6 speakers to come out of the commodore yet

Freddie Fender - July 2nd, 2004 at 05:03 PM

If you mount the speakers rearward facing and add the amp in the front, you should be able to get another 40kph out of the Beetle up hill.

Actually i fit was a Fender Twin Reverb based amp, you would add a further 20kph to this speed increase and be louder than anybody else in a 2 square mile radius!

For one, I thought you had a few too many amps there, but if there are more speakers yet to come, all well and good.

You can fit 2 x 12" in a sealed box (just) behind the rear seat. Fire them backwards for the best corner loading effect.

Amps, depending on size, can be on the sub box or under the rear seat, or under both front seats.

Front stage is usually either custom door cards (hard) or kick panels (easier). Either way its tough to get good misbass in the front of a bug - small magnet 6" splits are usually the go, with the tweeters up high by the quarter window.

Rear stage is usually in the parcel shelf, but nothing is stopping you putting it in the rear trim panels, although the cavity behind is tough to seal for good midbass.

Head unit can go in the dash or in the glovebox, or make a custom center console and put it in there.

Screen - maybe on a bracet from above the windscreen, or in the glovebox, or under the dash, folding down.

X box - maybe in the front boot - depends on how much space is taken up with amps !!!!!

Good luck, and remember - because of the shape of the beetle, and the corner loading this creates, you dont need as much power to go loud in a bug as you would in a commodore.

:)

IN THE WEEDS - July 2nd, 2004 at 07:22 PM

i have started this in my bug,

VDUBXTC - July 2nd, 2004 at 07:26 PM

its not realy a doof doof, not into that sort of music.
More for dvd and x-box sound effects.
It has a digital sound proccessor and with all 7 speekers you get a realy good surround system

Look if you are going to have too many headaches, let me know and I can try and take it off your hands for you.. ;)

dak dak ute - July 2nd, 2004 at 09:29 PM

good to see some alpine in there....... custom doorcards, sub in the back behind the seat.... sealed box for tighter more acurate bass...... (generally) also means the box will be smaller...... clean the dash out and mount the head unit in there, or head unit in glovebox and screen in centre of dahs (or vice versa)
BUY a BIGGER SCREEN you know you want to
it would be a much cleaner install if you kept your backseat, you could still make it look very neat and much more practical, amps probably wont fit the v12's under the seat, maybe room next to the sub box/on the sub box
should all turn out nicely, cant wait till i get to do a big custom on my next bug........ they are just built for it

kombi_kid - July 2nd, 2004 at 09:44 PM

simple piss off the bug and buy a kombi!!!! mate there is endless room in there!!! or just leave it in the bommodore!

Not to bad mate but i don't want mine to sit quite as high as that.
I only have th 2 15" subs so i shouldn't have to make the inclosure that big.

I'm having trouble with my stainless fire wall kit(vibrating big time) when I push my bass.....gives me the shits when I'm washing the car with the music on.

VDUBXTC - July 3rd, 2004 at 08:14 PM

put some thick merc sound deadener behind the kit.
you wont get any vibrations then

helbus - June 7th, 2008 at 05:22 PM

Just put it in.

66deluxe - June 7th, 2008 at 06:12 PM

With all that stuff will you still have room to drive the bug comfortably?

bajachris88 - June 7th, 2008 at 06:17 PM

Yea Jace, did the time warp again :P haha
Did u manage to fit all that in?

General_Failure - June 7th, 2008 at 10:12 PM

Put it in the front man!

Anyone that wants powerful ICE always fills their storage.

Speaking of which I fitted a pair of three ways in my van this week up front to replace the horrible speakers screwed to the masonite before. I think anything more than that would be a waste. Be careful with overkill in a VW. nless you have the engine off there is only so much use a sound system can be. Personally I always found a nice set of extractors far nicer to listen to than even the nicest stereo, but that's just me.
