was looking at making a sandblaster cabinet as any one a set up that works very well ? & what size air compressor have you

I would like to have a light in side as well as a fan to get rid of the dust .

I've used a OTTO bin for mine, the large green square plastic bin. I cut "hand" holes in the side and a viewing hole in the lid.

I have a 3hp 15cfm compressor, and I use fine sand. Bought the sand blasting kit/gun from bunnings for $24 and it works well.

there is a sandblasting cabinet outside my workshop at uni if you want me to take some photos of it and find out the details. It stands about head height and is about 2 by 2 by 1 metre deep roughly in size and on a stand

Craig you can buy a compreesor now for $99.00 in Perth GMC good hey ,low cost but mine has worked for three years now no probs , this would be a cheap set up hey !

You can make the actual cabinet out of timber or wood its just to contain the grit or oxide.

Get a good extraction system going as you need clean air so you ca nsee what yr doing.

thanks dave ,I was thinking of ally cabinet 2mtrs x 1 mtr 600mm in height with a hoper in the bottom to let the sand run in to .I would fit a light is side and a pipe to suck the dust out from this would have a door at one end as well so I could fit say a compelte gear box in there .I start in the morning and see how I go .

i saw a great one once made from a kombi engine compartment to put the compressor and the rear hatch compartment was where you do your blasting(the back half of a kombi up against a wall)

now to put it on a stand

If your making the Cabinet make it big enough to fit a guard inside and these are pretty solid and can stand blasting.

Yes make a upside down pyrimid so as teh blast media fall to one point and can be re used again

Make sure you use laminated glass in the window and against the light source so it dont shatter. Large rubber gloves are available

we used to have one at work good for getting old paint off,btw glass in it was 6mm thick, had big rubber gauntlets for your hands to go in
i think Gasweld sells them over here if you need a pic of what they look like
