So what was the NB vert in that "SPy who shagged me" movie?

Those were all chop tops, aftermarket jig saw heaven.:D These are VW Factory models.

*cough* badly photoshopped *cough* ;)

Blkbugs original post had the an extremely badly photoshopped or chopped bug. But then he put up one real and one fake image.

The real ones have:

a) a chrome strip around the hip line
b) side indicators in the mirrors
c) different side lenses, like the Turbo S

Here's a real spy shot, which even Wheels published in this month's edition. VW has been busy trying to get this image and a few others removed from various websites.

The scoop is this:

2.0 available from November in the US with a 6 speed (yes, six non-CVT) auto and a 5 speed manual. This is the new 2.0 engine, not the same as the current one.

1.8t is being built now, but will not be available until early next year. Very likely to be 110 kW even though 132 kW is the most common tune for most of the 1.8t's currently built.

The rag top is the only one offered, and it has various colors.

Oh yeah,

the NB vert kills off the old Golf-III based Cabriolet (which although still on the price lists, you cannot get anymore).

VW want to sell 30,000 of them worldwide per year, which is a huge leap in sales over the old Cabrio. There will be no Golf-V or Golf IV bodied Cabrios, only the NB Cabrio.
