Hmmm i must be getting old. i need help with my computer.
I bought one of my kids a digital camera for christmas. A Dick Smith Concord Duo LCD - also got my old man one.
He is running Windows 2000 on a 1.4M Hz Pentium and all is well. I can load the soft ware and when i plug the camera in to the USB port that the
keyboard is connected to it detected the camera and drivers were loaded. I could then access the pictures in the camera and down load them.
I am running only a 200 Pentium with Windows 98SE. I can load the camera software. The keyboard is a "normal" din? plug - and i have 2 USB
ports.
I cant get the computer to install new hardware. When i go onto control panel and force new hardware to install a new device (digital camera) i can
find a driver ( i think - there are 2 concord etc etc .inf files) but when it loads it only gives me an option for LPT1 port or com1 port - not
USB.
Am i doing something wrong or is my computer too old.
All help welcome - all my work computer gurus aare away till the 13th and my kid wants to load his pictures and this is making me feel like a real old
fart! :jesus
I'd start by having a look at your BIOS settings, sometimes the USB ports are disabled. You may also want to check that the BIOS setting for PnP OS are enabled. Anyway thats where I'd start looking, good luck.
OK thanaks - that does sound likely cause the USB are there just not answering - anyway the ratbags are at the gradparents - out for a night of
fun!
See what i can find tomorrow
