Posts will be starting to happen in the Club Chat and Events
I won't repeat myself, I've said it there.
It was the most awesome cruise. Gee we covered some kms!!!
Lots of pics will be coming very soon
Maybe we can start posting here as that string is getting very long from all of our pre cruise posts
You will regret not coming with us once you see the pics and hear the tales:jesus
As for Bel she is born to cruise, she came alive, had to even rein her in at times:o
No inland route home from Apollo Bay, I had to drive the GOR again
Cheers

i saw some of you guys in albury it was great to see and i was jealous
david:o:o
I had to drive the GOR on the way back from Appollo Bay too. Was an excellent drive. Passed Herb on his way to Apollo Bay about 15 mins before we got
to Lorne. Was a great drive for this bit.
My son had a surf at Torquey then it was straight into hot northerly wind gusts all the way up the Geelong Road to Melb. This was not a pleasant
cruise. More like a fight with the steering wheel for an hour. Was pretty glad to get off the freeway and onto Kings Way. Think the 57 was too. It was
vveeerrry hot after all that.
Was a great cruise tho. Really good to meet the gang from New South. We really made an entrance when we arrived at the camp. We also made sure they
didnt forget we were there either right up to 3.00am. Pity I couldnt have stayed a few more days . Damn work.
Happy New Year all
Dean :beer
fatboy told me that you'd pulled up next to him at a set of lights in Albury on the Sunday , and I missed seeing you
We'd been wondering earlier (Sat.) how to get in touch with you or how we could meet up. We'll have to get your phone number next time.
There's going to be a combined states cruise next year, to Wagga Wagga. We should be passing through Albury, maybe you can joing us on that
one?
Hmmm, that first cold beer at the Ettamoga Pub was so good!!!
Hey those walky talkies were so much fun on the cruise , and were
excellent for keeping in touch with where to group was, vital :thumb
Hmmm - Sounds like more fun than packing Boxes .
It was!!
Had a couple of Queenslanders drop into YHA Travel Centre today and they saw the Sydney group on the Hume Hwy Saturday, NSW side.
Needless to say I was telling everyone about the cruise, I was still buzzing Nothing like spreading the enthusiasm for Vee Dubbs. I was impressed, the guy could rattle off the rides he saw:thumb
hey jenz, i was next to that really cool purple bay dropped on its guts who does that belong to ,i was taking people canoeing to the river otherwise
i would have went to the pub for a look , imay have my 60 11 window ready to go to the nationals in sydney ,so would love to cruise with the
melbourne folk up there
dave:o:o p.s
we want that meet for albury as its heaps better here

That was Greedy51's (Steve d Rae). Pretty sweet isn't it:thumb
Wagga was decided on so that it is more of a central point for everyone, except for anyone from QLD/Nth NSW/WA etc. Hmm, the Taswegians get a semi
break on the trip across the strait, but they would need to start way earlier than most of us. By the time we all meet up it is huddle time to talk
VW's anyway, and not much of seeing a town.
After the drive last Saturday, meeting at the pub in the late arvo and having a social beer we were all ready to prop at the caravan park. We ordered
in pizzas, giving us all a chance to chat, chill and wind down before the run the next day.
At least June will be less hot for our rides and drivers

It was the best cruise I've been on so far. Props to the organizers from both ends.
I particularly enjoyed the "campfire" side of things in both Albury and Apollo Bay. I just wish I didn't have such an incredible
antipathy towards camping so I could hang around longer.
I had a good fang towards Apollo Bay (a little one, however - too much traffic on the Great Ocean Road). I hope I didn't scare Rob and Helen too
much, but they did get to their other car in one piece, which is cool. Hope their other ride gets back together soon.
Hi guys its fatboys wife,
Happy New Year to you all. Hope you had a good one. Ours was quiet after the trip home.
Staying the extra night was good for a rest but the weather went to hell. Big winds and lots of rain. The marquee that the NSW crowd had up blew down
and broke, everything got wet and they pretty much wanted to go home.
We had a nice mini cruise home with Col we went the back way to avoid torquay so a trip through the bush was nice even in the heavy rain.
All in all it was a fantastic cruise and thanks to those that organised it.
I hope the weather improves for the rest of their stay. Today doesn't look hopeful but maybe tomorrow:sandrine
Even though Monday was wet it was still warm, now it is wet and cold. They may be getting some good waves though for surfing, here's hoping
*Jen is downloading pics of the cruise and really hopes she gets sizes right this time*
Hey Happy 2003!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :party

Col setting up camp
3 sweet Melbourne beetles
A hill with a view
Cos I like it
Nice images!
I hope the last black Kombi gets back okay. The engine has the distinct rattle of death about it, but the aircooled engines are very resilient.

Must admit Bel has developed a new sound in her engine, sort of an unwanted chirping sound, not crickets. I think the heat got to some of our rides a bit and I'm keen to have Bel checked over to make sure she is OK, even though she ran so well. She used some oil and I had to more than just top her up.
Tomorrow morning, when you go to Bel, check her oil level before starting the car. One of the guys on the type 3 list discovered that he had somehow
overfilled his after an oil change and it's stuffed the engine seal, requiring the engine to come out.
It's pretty easy to let some out if you've put too much in.
Hope the noise isn't anything bad. Do you have a laptop with a microphone? If so, record the sound and post it here. One of the technical wizards
here (which is surely not me!) might be able to identify the noise.
Andrew
Have been reading my idiots guide. I did have a flickering oil light going back along the GOR when I changed down gears around bends, hence the oil check. John Muir talks about 'expensive sounds', Bel is developing one but at least not a death rattle. She is still sounding sweet most of the time. I'll drive Dr L until I can get Michael to look at her.
Hope Bels OK Jen. Was certainly a test for the air cooled mob in that heat. Let us know if you need a hand with anything.:beer
Oh great pics, got any more ???:thumb

my 71 camper developed a bit of a chirp and it turned out to be a cracked fan and the chirp was it vibrating ,so i hope that is not the problem good
pictures by the way
dave:o:o
Col has posted his pics in the 'club events' post
It worked out well, the three of us took different types of shots, but I guess we just didn't repeat what others have posted.
I don't think it is too serious with Bel. I'll rest her until Michael opens shop again. Don't like taking chances with her, too
precious to me:kiss
