How about a complete and running '74 microbus for $250. I drove it ~100km to my place on trade plates!
I could be fixed a little and registered, but for now it's a spare parts kombi.
how bout a camper, with most rust (roughly) repaired, runningsubi motor, rego (no roadworthy), as new poptop, working fridge, stove, CD player, bullbar all for $500?
Mine would of been a spare wheel tool kit out of an oval for $4 it only had a few tools in it but still a good score
A complete & running 58 kombi that cost me nothing more than patience.
A 57 oval (minus motor & interior) for a slab.
A set of 1600 TP barrells, pistons, heads & twin carbs for a slab.
A near complete, but strictly parts, 70 kombi for an errand. Turned out the motor was reco'ed 1000 kms before it was parked.
There's more, but mostly just parts cars.

My dad owns volkwerke in melbourne and every 2 months or so some people come around and sell a car (usually a golf or a beetle) to him from $100 to $50. The cars usually have been in a accident or engine doesn't work but he use's them for parts anyway. The mk1 golf where doing up for motorkhanas we bought for $50 because it only had a little dint in the back. Now it has a 1600 GTI motor in it.
40 Hp motor in good running condition for $60
3 other engines for Nix :thumb
I've scored a few bargains in my time, but I think the Berlina electric mirrors for the Tundra Buggy at $2 each was pretty good. And a perfect
Varajet carby for the Super Sports for $2 was good also. I picked up a replacement Falken Landair tyre (31x10.5x15R) and 2 14x7 inch VW rims for a
total of $1 a couple of days ago.
My current Kelly Safaris that went so well on Fraser were the cheapest though at $0.00
And Brad thinks he's a tightass...
Hi

It was usefulll BARRY cause i like reading bout those early years,,,, n it completed my Hot VWs magazine collection.
I threw ALL My hot VWs & dune buggies VW trends etc books out 6 months ago..... I don't like USA Magazines.... and only buy the UK ones
now.... I still have a fair selection of Safer Motoring Mags....
and I do enjoy reading those...
I don't think I'll sleep tonight after reading of those bargains...... Some of You people lead Fairytale lives..... This is one time I wish
I was a Fairy and had a kombi full of parts......
All I bought recently was a pair of NOS late rear Guards for $34...
When this fellow sold His VW years ago... He gave the new owners the guards but they didn't want them......
I though I would be the luckiest until I read some of the other posts.....
LUCK is the word.....
:o
but there are some buys i am proud of, my favourite is my complete set of EMPI Sprinstars (Lemmerz) rims with centre caps, made in western Germany
dated 1967.
i got these for $40 for the set, funnily the guy tried to sell me some bathurst globes staright after for $300! lol.
sam
NOw thats a good Deal Sam. the sprintstars not the globes.
I've had quite a few motorbike bonus' here and there but nothing really to do with VW's. Probably the only two that come to mind was my
$20 Donaldson and $19 Fire extinguisher (New). I hope the extinguisher never has to pay for itself but it's good piece of mind and as their was
only a Ramflo on the 1300 before so it the Donaldson.
Mabey I should read Buy, Swap and Sell more often!
i bought 2 army vw motors at auction for $350 and they were virtually new and fired up straight away and sounded so good oh yeah i bought a 59 splitty
for $20
