Hey all,
well after 18yrs in the wilderness (down south) I have finally made it back to QLD to live - for a while anyway. I need some advice.
I have a 6000 piece jigsaw puzzle that I call my 56 oval that needs some cancer cut out of him, and a 72 type three that I am getting up from Melb
soon. Basically I need some suggested panel beaters that people know will work on VWs without going nuts.
Would love them to be out here towards Ipswich, as that is where I am living, but am willing to travel a bit to get to them.
Any help?????????????????????
Penguin
hey pengy - good question!
i am searching for a decent panelbeater too --- one who will give me a reasonable qoute on fixing the damage on the t3s roof (so far pretty much
no-one even wants to have a look at it, let alone do work on it).
brett (yogie) gave me the name of these guys out at slacks creek - polmech - who aren't vw specialists or anything but are doing a good job on his
beetle. ph 3808 8533.
but otherwise i am lost ------------- on a slightly different topic - my brother and i are thinking about doing a TAFE course over summer in panel
beating and welding, they run them at ithica tafe (redhill) --- does anyone have any feedback or experience with these kind of courses?? my brother
has an oval and he heard that during the course you can actually bring in a panel of your own to work on....?
thanks thor
kool to hear your up here now chris, jo's folks are out the back of ippy, let us know where abouts your are and next time we go up there I can drop
that rack over if you like. or "Action Day" is next month, can catch up then.
Rob
Rob I'm on the end of Moggill Road that is almost in the wtaer. I'm about 4 km from the ferry. So let me know... and what Action
day????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? otherwise I have to head back to Sydney to get my motorbike, so I can stop off on the
coast on the way through (either direction).
Anyone else, I promise I won't hold you to any recommendations/descriptuions of panel beaters. Its just hard to find someone who is willing to work
on the oval for some reason.
Just because it is almost 50 years old seems to scare a lot of people.
Action day is at Carina on Sunday 12th September. It is a good day out with lots of cars and a good swap meet as well.
Like Lil Dub says, give the guys at Polmech a call. As well as working on my beetle they have fixed a few Porsches as well and I am very happy with
what they are doing to our beetle.
