hey
just expressing my disppointed in new VW's and how crappy there service really is!!!
we have a 2003 turbo new beetle it has been in 5 times to get the cd player fixed as the speakers are toggling on and off all around the car!!
the first time the speaker wires we loose connection, next time same thing, next time they took it out and put in a spare one to see the outcome- same
thing, next time replaced it and in the process chipped up all the consul around it trying to dig it out with a screw driver and finally the latest a
new cd player and it does the same thing!?!?!
when are they gonna fix this??????
cheers
rhys:cry
also just found out when fitting new consul they didnt connect up any wiring so we got no heated front seats, cigarette lighters etc what slack
bastards the VW dealer here had just copped an ear full and are going to see it again tomorrow!
cheers
rhys
They forgot to plug in the electric seat warmers in my 63 too...
and they totally forgot to install a CD player.
slack buggers...
The joys of a new car and Warranty
your right kombi kid that really isnt good enough from a dealership, i would be putting in a formal complaint if i were you and they should have a
stern talking to the person who has been working on your car. It may have only been things light heated seats and things they forgot to reconect but
what if it was something a bit more important they forgert next time. I wouldnt be allowed to get away with half doing my job so they shouldnt
either
Danielle
Damn, there is a lot of this goin about...My bloody seat warmers aren't workin either...
We should rise up and put a stop to it immediately....
As for the cig lighter, well it is a foul smelling evil health destroying habit anyway.
Also my etc is COMPLETELY CACTUS. WTF am I gunna do?
I took it back to the dealer and was told me warranty expired in 1972....
not fair is it?

I know people who have had Warranty trouble as well. Mainly electrical accessory's like windows, Door locks, C.D players and simular stuff. It would
have to be disappointing after spending all that money.
nuffin like ownin' a 30 years plus vw, all this shit is ironed out:thumb
we have had lots of electrical problems (windows, door locks and radio is having problems now) with the '96 passat too... must be a recent VW fault in general...you'd think they'd have worked it out by now..
yer and get over using there current cd player manufacturer and train there employees properly!
cheers
rhys
Yeah i had problems with my cd player too.
Then my new beetle started to rust, and the cd player didnt seem like such a big problem anymore!
But I still love my car :kiss
They must all be the same(VW dealerships) Useless pricks.I had the same trouble-CD player shit itself 2 k's from the dealership.Went back next day(saturday)waste of time.Next trip a second hand one from a Demo car.It shit itself the next day.Another 800km round trip(after booking it in solely for the CD player) to be told I would have to come back again when they got a new one in.My ability to stay calm left me.Anyway I demanded a new set and have it sent to me with the extraction tools and I would fit it.A new one turned up from Eurovox direct and the bastards even conned me for the return freight. No trouble with this one.I took it there also for it's first service-lets not even go there?????
best thing to do is complain to VW Australia directly... we had trouble with our windows... had them fixed about 3 times.... once they forgot to plug in the fuel release switch.. so got stranded at a petrol station... trace complained to VWA about the service department and they sorted them out... forced them to change the window regulators and since then they have been nice as pie to us and we have not had anymore problems. (but they did smash a window when removing it from the car... :cussing)
it is really disappointing cuase there such nice cars!!
cheers
rhys
Our Mk3 Golf has had window trouble on three diffrent windows. I've fixed 2 of them and a Friend who works at a Dealership fixed the last one. There
a pain in the Arse, it makes you too scared to use them incase they stuff up again.
Also the Central locking locked Emily out of the Car, every time she opened the locks they would shut again straight away. She ended up climbing
through the Hatch to get in so she could take to the Dealer, then it spent 3 days there but they did give Her a 2000 Model Mitsubishi Varada to take
home.
As for the Stereo it works but it's useless.
I know a few N.B owners who all have the same problems with there Cars. You would think that since our 96 Golf had them they would have sorted them
out by now.
To be honest we are thinking about pissing it off for a V8 Fairmont or a XR8 like mine. We havn't had any trouble with that.
yeh... go direct to the big guys, theyll sort it out. i did when there was a difference of $9k mistake on my trade-in
:vader
ive found great dealers as far as the service goes then as soon as you walk into the showroom to buy a $45k car they turn into senseless dickheads.
they think i dont know anything about cars. then i just kept going further up the coast and found Motorline at Daisy Hill, theyre legends.
BTW while i was in melbourne, had coolant leaking(dumping out) bigtime. ended up being very large hole in a hose and it was only on 13000kms. they
reakon it was the engine twisting because of the increased kilowatts. do they really think im that much of an idiot to believe that crap. it was not
put on properly from day one.
I have a 99 passat and had no worries at all with the car, but if you know 'Skoda" they are now Skoda with a VW badge, and years ago these cars were
shit house, some parts on my passat are made in france, italy, check, romania etc etc, cheaper production lowers standards, but we still lurve our
car, but yeh i agree with bluetopless's coment, go to the top, that will get them going,
i had a shit fight with telstra, went to the top and sorted instantly...just thought i would let you know that..
Andy
Fabia = Golf
Octavia = Passat
The classic shit house Estelle, rear mount..

workin in a dealership i'll give ya's a bit of insight..........
they normally have quoted times for doing certain things on vehicles.
eg- a service, wheel alignment, changing leads etc.
if the tech does it faster then the quoted time you still get charged the quoted time. if he goes over then they charge you more then quoted...
most workshops run on bonus schemes. these relate to efficency and clocked on hours. therefore the more time a tech stays clocked onto a job during
the day (= less time wasted not making money not clocked onto jobs) the more money they make and the faster they finish a job compared to the quoted
time the more money they get too...
so the end result is workshops encourage techs to push harder and faster to make more money, resulting in stuff not being done properley....
add in the fact a lot of dealership staff talk shit and lie and cover their asses then you get bad service at top dollar prices!!!
i know with us at mazda they have a survey called MSI and it gives the chance for the customer to rate the servicing and so on.... they all freak out
about it in mazda as it has big repurcussions if it is negative....
i made a phone call for ya. for volkswagen dramas you have to write a letter.
volkswagen group australia
po box 2316 strawberry hills
nsw 2012
list your dramas, dealership you use and include your VIN number (chassis number- can be foound on lower part of rego sticker, 16 digits long) , rego
number and contact details and they reckon they will take care of it for you.
i hope this helped!!!!
ps- totally unrealated but do you know the retail store COLORADO?? they are so paranoid and scared of negative feedback that you can take back items
of clothing or whatever AFTER the warranty expiry date and get refunds/replacements???!!!! just complain that you will take the issue to the head
office and apparently they will move heaven and earth to do what you want!!! my friend worked at an outlet and if a customer complained to head
office, even if out of warranty, head office kicked their ass!! hahaha how wrong is that!!!!
I worked at a Mazda Dealership.
They Charged 1 Hour for a Oil change and it took the Lube Bay Operator 15 minutes...
They Charged 4 Hours for a Major Service, and I could do one in under 45 Minutes that includes driving it in and getting parts.
Multiply that by 12 Technicians as they called us and it's a lot of Extra Hours at the end of the day.
Thiefing Bastards.
yeah go figure!!!
we have 8 techs here doing 8 hour days so that = 64hours.
yet the invoice an average of like 180 hours of work per day!!!!
absolute rip offs!!
hey what dealership were you at down there??? u2u me if you wanna keep it quiet....
thanks air fooled will be doing it ASAP its in today after a argument with the staff this morning even though "they checked all speakers" even
though when i jumped in i put fade to rear and there was a slight noise out of one rear speaker!!
when they replaced the centre part it wasnt put in right also its almost meant to sit flush on the beer table but it sits up about 3-4mm!!!!!
cheers
rhys
p.s. thanks again
all good man! go woop some ass........
heated seats?
they forgot to put my heater in all together...
And let's not even talk about the roof...
Just kidding
My dealings with the people at head office have been nothing but trouble. The fact that they find it perfectly acceptable to ask me to travel for
over an hour and to another state to get my rusty car fixed is totaly beyond me. Not when I have two VW gargaes with half an hour of my house.
Never had any problems with my services though, well apart from the big $$!
