Have a look at this Oval and tell me whats wrong with this picture.
DOH wrong pic
Theres more about it on this site
http://www.oldbug.com/snoopy.htm
that could only happen in CALIFFFFOOORRRNIAAAAA
Its a strange looking beast. What about that Komb/Karman in the first pic.
Butchery if you ask me.
The Kombi vert looks OK.
Very weird Dean:o
Looks very distorted. I was wondering if the red doors could create that long look up front but not I guess.
Kombi's are interesting. Never seen a roofless one before/ convertable:alien
Beetle: Extended front. the bottom hinge is normally only a few inches from the front guard [fender] NOT a LOT of Inches and the distance between therear edge of the door & the rear guard [fender] is only a few inches distance & should be A LOT OF Inches... its like a BACK to FRONT
"Hebmuller" Maybe the Original two seater Hebmuller sedan ... but when they made it into a convertible... there was NO Room to put the hood
when it was down, so the bonnet was shortened and the rear was lengthened.... Yes it ALL makes sense now ..
:thumb:bounce:
and Here is another VERY RARE pic of the One & Only Karmann Cabrio Kombi.
Yes Folks, this One was destined for production... but there were NO Door handles, so they never found out whether it actually went or not.... and if
You had a flat rear tyre.... You needed an Oxy torch to cut away the body so the wheel could be taken off. A Small Oxy set was going to be a standard
feature.... Shame about the doors though.... It was going to have Electric Solenoid door locks , but as they Had NOT been invented....:o:bounce
that is an odd bug to look at and figure out
i can let the orange bus slide only just but that green thing is as ugly as a hat full of bums !:puke
I remember now, when I was in the Pyschiatric Hospital.... a fellow told Me that He had made a Beetle with an Extra long nose... the purpose was to
WIN the Round Australia Trial in 1962 ... and inside the long nose were 2 extra fuel tanks. Actually the whole car was in fact a Very Large Fuel Tank,
and the idea was to compete in the Round Australia trial, WITHOUT ever having to stop for fuel....
BUT in the lead, with only 2 miles from the finish line, they ran out of fuel.... and as the driver & navigator had taken NO MONEY with them.....
for fuel.... they Did Not Finish.... and the owner/driver is still in the Pyschiatric Hospital... He keeps saying, "if only I had filled the
headlamp buckets with fuel, I would have won"
and He probably would have done...... A SAD SAD but TRUE Story....:P
:bounce
I spoke to another patient in the VW Pyschiatric Hospital today, and another inmate? told Me that He had heard of a very tall Guy who needed Crutches
to walk... and as they wouldn't fit inside the car..... but they DID fit under the bonnet. When it was extended.....
:o
:bounce
then there was this fellow in room 4 [in the VW Pyschiatric Hospital]who said He had heard that [in 1962] there was a keen VW enthusist who was also a
Surfer who didn't like to have his specially made surf board with twin fins in public View ,so He had this long nosed beetle Made so He could
fit his Surfboard inside the boot.... Could this be the TRUE story???? :o:bounce
I love the Kombi/Karmann Ghia!
Now that is what grinders, sawzalls and hot axes were designed for!
Chop the cab a bit, better fitting tyre/rim combo, matte paint and some pinstripping. Oh yeah!
This is what Oz needs ... more people willing to cut em up and weld em up!
Matt.
What a waste of 4 to 5 cars.
