5PL1TDCS10N - January 14th, 2003 at 12:10 PM

You have just been given $50K to spend on anything VW.
What would you spend it on?

Crashman - January 14th, 2003 at 12:24 PM

i would spend it on a Mint Mk1 Golf GTi and then buy another one for every day use and modify it

5PL1TDCS10N - January 14th, 2003 at 12:28 PM

Lets make it Aus$50K...

5PL1TDCS10N - January 14th, 2003 at 01:06 PM

Hey Unity...

Can you order 4.5" Fuchs from a Porsche dealer?
They are the spare wheels huh?
Provided you dress well and comb your hair and wear shoes ask nicely and have the $$$?
(!)

The_Bronze. - January 14th, 2003 at 01:23 PM

I'd buy Wes' Baja and paint it Holden Tiger Brown.

By the wife a black ACon'ed Cab KG with lots of bass.

And start a resto on a low split bus painted cream and red with Merc buckets and a non-naturally aspirated type 4 making traction difficult on dry surfaces in every gear.

With the change I'd get a subscription for as long as I could - which would be probably one or two copies.

Unity-28 - January 14th, 2003 at 01:37 PM

Firstly, 4.5 were only offered only in 1967, and no they werent the spare!!!
You can try Porsche dealers, but I dont think you will get any!!! They are as rear as rockin horse shiat, so they are snapped up b4 they even get to them!!! Just have to look on ebay, or be very lucky!! They are very $$$$
But they look the part, so worth trying to get them!!!!

Cheers N!

5PL1TDCS10N - January 14th, 2003 at 01:43 PM

Hey Unity28,
I did'nt know that about the Fuchs! Wow!
I have seen 'em on a lot of feature cars in US mags, now I know why. They do look the part when running 145 front runners on Vdubz, slammed.

Will keep an eye out for them or anyone wrecking a 67 911...

Cheers(!)

:o

Unity-28 - January 14th, 2003 at 01:46 PM

Where do you work??? 145's Are TOO BIG! Im talking 125's!!! With a narrowed beam!!! Wicked!!!

N!

Che Castro - January 14th, 2003 at 03:06 PM

i don't get the thing about skinny front tyres? whats the point?

I would continue my IRS pan swap, get some 6X16 front and 7x16 fuchs polished with maybe ventilated CSP or porsche 944 discs up front with 944 discs out back. Build up a 2.5 litre type 4 with 911 shoud, nikasil cylinders JE forged pistons, EFI. track race it and drive it on the street.

then i would buy a Splitty to drive around, preferably a 23/21 window (i wish) and if not a 15/13 window or a double cab. Slam it on airbags either Fuchs or Stock 2 tones. Front roof rack, safaris, black up top and red on the bottom, with deluxe trim. mmmm

Unity-28 - January 14th, 2003 at 03:18 PM

The thing about skinny front tyres is the look! They look nuts!!! I like the look of the cars in the "german folks" Klub in the states! Thats the look im going for, So I like em!!! Its got that "tubbed" front end look, and with a narrowed beam, it looks even better! But thats only my opinion!!! And thats what Im doing to my car!!! You must remember, Original tires arnt much ier than these!!!

Cheers N!

Pat - January 14th, 2003 at 03:28 PM

I would buy a mint 50/51 split bug, chop the roof off with an angle grinder, fit a porsche whale-tail, torana taillights, vinyl graphics on the side and hotwire mags.:thumb:thumb:thumb

Pat - January 14th, 2003 at 03:28 PM

Or I'd find a HEB, and do the same thing.

Unity-28 - January 14th, 2003 at 03:48 PM

Your Very Brave PAT!!!! hehehe!

nectar!

Pat - January 14th, 2003 at 04:05 PM

If I did ever do that, I think I'd need the 50K to hire bodyguards to protect me.

But seriously if I had 50K, I'd buy a nice original oval, and a Karmann Ghia convertible.

Hutcho - January 14th, 2003 at 04:12 PM

Pat, would they be those coool 14 inch hotwires with 265x65 tyres!?
Seriously, Id probably really try to go down the "other" VW route. A car that would look similar to the avitar in matara's profile. YEP! 356. I know, I know. Id be pushin' it but I didnt say a mint one! or hang, hang on! Id probably try to grovel to Pete and purchase either of his cars that he is renowned for!!:kiss:kiss heehee..

Hutcho - January 14th, 2003 at 04:15 PM

I like this topic alo!! or Id engineer my notch to blat aroud with the help of a 3.2 litre TWIN TURBO Porsche donk and all the other bits!! Geez, my heart rates goin' ape!

kombi_kid - January 14th, 2003 at 04:16 PM

mmmmmmmmmm
a single cab just fully stripped crossbraced chassis rails mikd mounted fully worked 451 Chev with a ford GT g'box running porsche outters and 18 inch porsche cups, tubbed ,hydrolics, wooden tray, monaro front end with rack and pinion steering, power steering, FAT BASS, and painted in airbrush flames and shiny black mmmmmm shiny!
dreams a dreambut can make it come to reality for just 10 grand!
so i would get a KG convertible and slam it FAT bass , lkeather interior, 2.6 turbo 914 porsche motor, and a motorised soft top (you know the ones on saab convertibles etc)
cheers
rhys
p.s. and porsche g'box and turbo motor for my panel!

Secoh - January 14th, 2003 at 07:24 PM

i'd be in improved production racing with a superbug faster than a derro in pizza hut's skip :D

i'd also buy a shwimmwagen for the novelty value :D

The_Bronze. - January 14th, 2003 at 08:28 PM

Whats faster Seoch, your Derro or my Rat up the Drain pipe?

silver - January 14th, 2003 at 08:33 PM

VWFOOL - January 14th, 2003 at 09:20 PM

Hutcho - January 14th, 2003 at 09:45 PM

save another 10 and buy an R32 Golf.....decisions, decisions..

KruizinKombi - January 14th, 2003 at 09:57 PM

Hmmm, which one to go for this time?

How about an 8-wheel-drive, 6-wheel-steer kombi with pnuematic suspension and power steering? :o:o:o

5PL1TDCS10N - January 15th, 2003 at 10:58 AM

I think i'd travel around Oz looking for the abused, neglected and abandoned Splities and Oval children...get them back home where they will be slowly nursed back to health with some nice new warm oil and rust preventative. To be enjoyed for future generations.....

(!)

:cry

Pat - January 15th, 2003 at 04:31 PM
