SPEEDO PROBLEM
silver - January 20th, 2003 at 02:47 PM

Well it looks like the speedo in my splitty has died I can feel the cable spinning at the top near the speedo so thats ok I guess, but nothing is working.......
one good thing though, i got caught doing 72 in a 50 zone (lots of bucks) and when i told the cop that my speedo stopped working. he let me off!!!! and told me to get it looked at straight away.
So can i fix this speedo or will i need a replacement:cry

Hey Wayne,

met you the other day in annandale! Freaky - my speedo stopped yesterday, but I know I'm up for a new cable.

You can pull the speedo apart, just carefully prise the chrome rim off the front and unscrew it apart to look for something obvious. Mine was so gummed up it seized, and thats what broke my cable. They're resonably fixable - I've probably got a spare if your stuck, but you'll need to supply your needle (my spare is broke)

Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Wow! it is a small world .I suppose i'll have to remove the speedo to see what's wrong, but i'm pretty sure it's not the cable. i have been told by one of the Mullers that there is a guy in Revesby that can fix and or restore the biggest problem which is good... I am still trying to get that donor van I told you about, there's a speedo in that if it comes to that. but I suppose my preference is to keep the original speedo in my van
nice to hear from you Steve, and thanks for the speedo offer, it might come in handy to fix mine
