No funny stories but if I could post the pics I would. Got to go away last year for work, abnd managed to see Bugs ( and a Bus or two) in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal. Only really got pictures in Nepal though.
In Nepal on the front wall of the Embassy is a picture (Its in the Embassy Bar as well) of a family in their VW for a rally (It was held in Nepal). Saw a real one in the Hotel carpark in Kathmandu, and another up a laneway just outside the Hotel.
In Bangladesh, saw a few driving around in traffic, and a few gradually dying beside the roads :(
Pakistan, saw a few buses in the traffic, I daresay they go well due to the no need for water.

Another cool place to go to see lots of unusual VWs is Noumea in New Caledonia. Not far away either. It's a French dependency so the roads are full of left-hand-drive European cars (they even have the same yellow headlights that French cars do)

I've been there a couple of times, the first time on the old Fairstar in 1984. Even as the ship was pulling up to the wharf I could see Golf 2s everywhere (they weren't sold in Australia until 1989). Original Sciroccos and Polos were also common. The Beetles and Kombis were European spec, and I even saw several VW K70s.

I saw lots of weird VWs in eastern Europe, ones which sorta look like polos.

My friend tells me Mauritius has lots of vws, and other european cars as well, being a French colony and all.

Also my uncle moved to Hawaii a few years back(lucky bastard) he says there are dune buggies everywhere.

WOW that green beetle-train-thing is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

Havn't got any pictures on computer but it was seeing lots of New Bugs in the snow of New York while my wife and I were on honeymoon which made us want one. So our honeymoon photos are like and here is a green one just off Broadway.
