Haven't had much experience in Sat and Cable TV &/or internet. Care to share you opinions and experiences.
The wife would like us to get it on here in the near future. I'm not so sure. The regular T.V. seems ok with the usual news and evening crap
which I don't watch anyhow. I like about 15 mins of news and mabey a Sat arvo or SBS/ABC Documentry I usully tape for my students. Just wondering
if it's worth it in your opinions.
I like a good geography / history / social / documentry and Sals into movies but neither of us are into Sports or entertainment programs. Because
everything we have now is with Optus we only have to pay a fifth for installation which would be 49.95 instead of the full $330; and then it's
five cents short of $40 for the entertainment pack per month. This give us:
5 News', 4 Sports, 6 Free to air, 10 entertainment, 2 kids, 3 movies, 5 Docos' and 1 music.
The movie pack is another $13 for 3 channels of movies-
Some people here (Dubbo) say they pay $70 a month for crap, other say they never used it, other just shrug their shoulders and say it's ok.
What's your opinion on sat / cable - is it worth it and what about internet cable as an add on?

Over 1000 posts, when will you get the time to watch any more tv?

Guess your right - suppose I could tape it and watch it in class at the end of year wind ups. Good question though
Im a movie junky so when i got optus cable i quickly came to realize where all the crap movies go,not to free tv channels but to pay tv channels so your paying to watch crap and as a bonus they throw in some adds and even better half the adds are advertising pay as you go wrestling.Do yourself a favour tape 3hrs of sbs each night play at will your brain will thankyou for it,and no im not a yuppy or a greeny but i think i have an attitude problem.Mick.:P
my tv never mooves of the cartoon channell, have to check occasionally if the kids are still breathing. the odyseey/national geographic and history channels are good value, the rest are re-runs.
have us one lined up for easter uncle brian!!!! (ill talk dad into it he knows he wants even thoiugh hes dreading the tax bill )
cheers

Far be from me to suggest such a thing - but asking around you should be able to find someone to supply you with satalite that is shall we say
"Aftermarket"
I believe the going rate is about a grand + and gets you all channels including the special Pay Per View events.
Pity your not around Melbourne cos I knows diz guy who knows anoda guy...
lets say this a friend of a relative knows a guy who has lets say aftermarket satelites and its around a grand!
and they cant trace it back to u and fine u or wot not (unless u get an austar card which i can get them for $40!)
cheers

ARGH
I have a two story house. The guy came around this morning to install the dish, but basically wimped out because a) it was probably too hot b) he
claimed there was nowhere to tie off his safety lines and there was a bit of wind blowing, etc.
Bugger. Another week of silly season to put up with.

The minister of leisure and communication dug further yesterday on the availability and comparisons of Optus against competitors.
Turnsout Optus dosen't and won't in the near future service
Dubbo. The only option we have is Austar. It's 49.95 a month for:
Sport - Fox1; Fox2; Skyracing
Doc - Natgeo; Discovery; History
News - CNN; Skynews
Buis- CNBC; Bloomberg
General - TV1, Arena, Lifestyle Comedy; TCN
C'toon - Nic; Disney; ABC Kids
Music - V; Music Max; Music Country; Movie Soundtracks.
24 Radio stations of various persuasions
For an Extra 12.95 (Total 57.95) you can choose one of three other movie packages per month.
Get this for dumb though - Their web site say nothin other than a phone number. So we rang it and they got the sh!ts because we wanted to know what
programs they offered and how much for installation ($20) etc etc. They would not send any information out and didn't have a web site that would
provide any further info. If I had a choice I would choose another provider for the sake of decent service.
Might just stick to SBS and ABC. No wonder people steal it! To much hassle to buy
austar has big financial problems and have pulled most of their offices out of rural towns, their main (only ?) customers. All they wont is your credit card number and you can chase them if there is a stuff up, in other words no #$%service.
