Slammed Squareback
KruizinKombi - January 27th, 2003 at 07:31 PM

They don't get much lower than this!! :o(They can't really, this one is sitting with its pan on the ground!:D)

I thought I'd allow myself a little last-minute stress relief before returning tomorrow, so I thought I'd pull the front end out of the mostly-stripped squareback that will be finding a new home at the tip next Sunday.

:party

KruizinKombi - January 28th, 2003 at 05:26 PM

Does his sit on its pan when the suspension is down? There's been a bit of interest here on airbags of late, maybe you could get some photos for us? I'd really like to see some pics of the setup. I'd also be really interested to know what sort of money he spent and maybe where from? Hey, better still, why don't you write an article for the new e-zine soon to be hosted on aussieveedubbers.com!! :thumb:thumb:thumb

jenz58 - January 28th, 2003 at 08:20 PM

Tazzielittle - January 28th, 2003 at 09:42 PM

i know a guy who supplies airbags here in Melbourne, Locolowriders in Fitzroy. has some SWEEEEEET bikes as well

Unity-28 - January 29th, 2003 at 09:52 AM

Ive been busting Pauls nuts to get bags for vw for ages! he gets hydros, but bags, not often!!!! That place is my second home!!!!! Brian did all the work himself!!!! It doesnt lay the pan on the floor, cause he has channeled the thing!! It sits lower! Its sills are on the floor at the lowest point, while the pan is still off the ground! Does that make sense!!!!! And the thing drives nice!!!!!

Cheers N!

jenz58 - January 29th, 2003 at 04:15 PM

Thanks for the info for Melbourne:thumb

KruizinKombi - January 29th, 2003 at 08:13 PM

Channelling is awesome, the only way to go ultra-low. I've been looking at my squareback all week and almost changed my mind about disposing of it!

kustomkool - January 30th, 2003 at 05:49 PM

Brians car rocks.

Very cool Col, love the wheels. They're the same style I'm using on my manx.

Dont know how its lower, cause when the bags on Brians car are deflated, the "SILLS" sit on the ground, not the rails!!!!! BUT!!!!!!

N!

KruizinKombi - February 3rd, 2003 at 10:30 AM

Just wait until I get the squareback out of the way and start on the fastie..... :D

Unity-28 - February 3rd, 2003 at 10:39 AM

The Lower the Better!!!!!! Cant wait til I get the body on to the pan, to see how low it will sit with the Bags!!!!!! Want to see whether or not I will have to channel it to get it as low as I want it!!!

Cheers N!

kustomkool - February 5th, 2003 at 06:35 AM

U 28 cant wait to see it man, just put a ultra low beam in the beetle cb perf dropped spindles, wanna bag the back so I can make her dance.

Unity-28 - February 5th, 2003 at 01:06 PM

KK, I should have the bags within a couple of weeks, when I get them, you can have a look to see how easy it is to do!!!! I have to see if I can still narrow the beam with bags though!!!! I will set it all up first, and then I will see!!!! I want to lay pan!!!! and srcape the plates!!! and freak ppl out!!!!! and......

HEHEHE N!

Joe_G - February 6th, 2003 at 03:05 AM

Going to the tip!!!! :( We restore worse than that over here :D

GENEBERG - February 7th, 2003 at 02:25 PM

If channeled in which Brians car is ,It is has to be lower. But my bike is much lower than his bike.

KruizinKombi - February 7th, 2003 at 02:29 PM

Unity, easy maybe, but not cheap. I don't drive a VW because I can spend lots of money on it - quite the opposite. :)

Joe_G, come and get it, you're welcome to it. I wish someone would take it away, even if only to cut patch panels out of for another restoration. :)

Unity-28 - February 7th, 2003 at 03:18 PM

In my last post on this topic, I said for KK to come and have a look at how "easy" the air bag process will be! I actually meant Kustomkool, but KruisinKombi, you are more than welcome to have a look!! From what I am told though the bag Kit I have bought is a very easy one to install, And with the help of a few guys that do bags for a living, I think it will be one days work!!!! It is nowhere near as complicated as bagging a truck!!!! Actually, what I should do is post pics of the kit, in its Knocked down form!!!

Cheers N!

Unity-28 - February 7th, 2003 at 03:29 PM

The other thing is this!!! How much do you think you need to redo/replace all your total suspension? Alot! With 1500-2 grand you have new suspension and the choice of going up and down!!!!

Cheers N!

KruizinKombi - February 9th, 2003 at 01:34 PM
