more than likely been discussed before....

I watched 'almost famous' on telly last night - counted at least a dozen splitties in various forms driving around in the background, parked in car parks etc - micros, single and twin cabs, sweeeeet :) I thought they might just have the same two or three just in different scenes but no, they were all different colours n stuff. Nice one.

Any other films you have seen with nice examples featured?

that is all....back to your business...

i remember in the ORIGINAL gone in sixty seconds.. the one made in the 70's, theres one scene where the mustang comes (supposedly) tearing onto the highway, merging at about 100mph... well.. if you look in the corner theres a little red bug that looks like its going faster and overtakes the mustang as it merges... it was hilarious..

ian.mezz - December 26th, 2004 at 01:29 PM

the bad guys in the movie back to the future where hanging out the roof of a kombi giving it a thrashing.

In Back To The Future, Marty is chased by Libyans driving a Kombi..
One of them is standing up in the back and trying to get him with a Missile Launcher after The Doc' stole the plutonium they had given him to build a bomb with, and exchanged it for pinball machine parts...
He needed the plutonium to power the Delorean....

Another famous VW...

Kate Winslet drives a yellow bug in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Very cool film by the way, check it out if you liked being john malcovitch.

64vwmark - January 4th, 2005 at 12:25 PM

In The Thomas Crown Affair (original version, with Steve McQueen) has a really good scene with a Manx beach buggy.

BiX - January 4th, 2005 at 12:29 PM

space balls- there is a a hover klubel wagen.
top gun- the very sweet 356

and i think the kombi may be in some of the future episodes of that 70's show!!!

last celtic warrior - January 4th, 2005 at 06:39 PM

Just watched the new version of "The Thomas Crown Affair" with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo in it. Good movie, but the bastards left out the beach buggy scene. How could they???

The buggy in the original film that McQueen drove was powered by a hotted up Chevy Corvair motor and the body is modified a lot. Very cool scene showing him driving the buggy like a buggy was meant to be driven...
