I know the macpherson strutted beetles arnt suitable to be baja'd but how hard is it to lift a super 2-4 inches to fit some bigger tires to enable it to go on the beach

Yes - I too would be interested in if the Supers can be lifted - and even Bajaed. The strut towers are the issue with the kit.
Be good to have a bit more room within.

Looking at my one, it looks like all that is involved is fitting some taller springs in the front, giving it a wheel alignment and making sure the brake lines arent stretched. The trick will be to find some taller springs that arent too stiff.

the back should be the same as any other IRS beetle...

Firstly anything can be done, but why ....
If you were to brace / reweld the towers and re-inforce them they would not be a problem. The biggest problem then will be the single bottom ball joint it is week and yes I have broken some.
The guards you can make fit as you cut much of the front off and the rest if just a fibreglass fit.
You can lift them by simply adding blocks onto the springs and finding some loger struts from another vehicle. There use to be aftermarket struts that were 3" longer. I have had 225 x 75 x 15 on teh front of a 75 L bug and 31 x 10.5 x 15 on the rear, which as stated is the same as any other IRS Beetle.
I drove it on the beach and then took it out and thrashed it silly. Bam the front left bottom ball joint sheared off when I hit a pot hole...... Damn it had to be a big tree that stopped me now didn't it..
Exit one baja L Bug, enter another great IRS rear for a Buggy..
Lesson Learnt - You can brace em and race em but when the let go they suck.. Treat them nice and I am sure you can get away with anything..

Bronze, sut holes through the bodywork for the struts to poke through to the outside, like desert racing trucks!! :thumb

Good idea - I'll remember that. How cool would it look :D.
Turn some head - especially the Roads and Transport Guys!
