Lil Bita TECH HELP: My Rear Axles are sliding in and out a bit..
Marineboy - February 24th, 2005 at 03:09 PM

Hey all, Now I have just had my buggy (Manx Body, Swing Axle (long, Did have a Short) rear with a Subi donk) up at a Brake Place to get a few things fixed up and checked out.

My Disc Brakes were scraping on the adaptor plates holding the caliper. In trying to find a solution to fix this we found that the wheel and axle slide in and out a few mil. No bearing movement side to side or up and down just strait in and out..????

When I bought the car it had a short axle box, I put in a long, do not think this should have made a diff there were a few thigs that had to be swapped between, bearing housing for instance i think. and I had to make up a spacer because the hub nut reached the splime before the wheel assy was tight..

The brake Calipers are from a Mazda RX7 I am told, Anyone know what kit this is, I may need some new disc's and adaptor plates to replace bent and worn ones...

All the help I can get will be Soooooo Helpfull, and I hope to dive into this next week and get it fixed...

Ha, And I thought it was just my Steering was a Little wobbly...

Oh and also to add this problem seems to be getting worse, I do not remember getting this scraping when I changed over the boxes..

Thanks to ya all, Cuz Ya all Rok...

Dean...

Yep that seems to be the case here too, you do not feel the movement with brakes on you see, is your driving/Steering a bit loose...?
But your froon wheels seem tight...?

Well that is my issue... is there shims i am missing...?
Could the bearing be sloshing back and forth... Who Knows this PROB...?

Help us fix out FLABBY back ends...!!

maate, with a 40 year old car, cut floorpan swb, swinging swingaxles, the back wheel tuck, 31x10.5r15 s on the back at 4pound and 205x65x15s on thew front at 15pound, no steering dampner, steering accuraqcy of a ship, no sway/stabilisers, and the proverbial loose nut behind the wheel, what exactly is tight steering and normal ride???

i'm happy when it makes it round the first wet roundabout without to many 360s....

Being a Little LOOSE I am used to, and well I can handle it but my Problem is it is causing my brake Discs to scrape on the Calliper carrier (Fashioned metal plate holding RX7 Pinchers on GOD KNOWS WHAT discs..!) So having a Flabby ass makes you FEAR a truck passing you on the Freeway because the bow wave of a MACK pushes your ass out (Causing you to stear towards the Truck) untill it comes up beside you thwrowing your had off your head and while your working out where the crap ya hat went you have changed lanes away from the truck due to your earlyer correction and the truck has now sucked your buggy's ass intowards it...

But hey It keeps me awake...!!!

Hmmmm, I will try and see some learnard peoples here in Sydney around the northern beaches and see what I can find out... Any Ideas on fixing it...???

Oh and yes arnt wet round abouts FUN, scares the shit out of pedestrians on the sidewalk when I am pointing at them but traveling strait past... and I exclame to my passanger "ooop's did not mean to do that...!
