anyone been jerked around buying a vw??????????????
KDFking - February 27th, 2005 at 05:13 PM

just wanted to post this as ive just wasted 2 weeks sourcing parts for a baywindow project that was offered 4 sale on a board at the etamogha pub meeting about 2 weeks ago.i will not mention any names but i went to see this 67-68 bay after the meeting and have been sourcing parts for it for the last 2 weeks!!(waste off time)

it was stated on the 4 sale board that he wanted $250 for it,it has a later bay front grafted onit and a few rust holes in the front floor and its had a dodgy repair on the rear left of the car.i just found a doner vehicle in brisbane today from a pretty cool guy(after going to most wreckers and calling most major vw suppliers around brisbane). And luckilly before i bought the doner vehicle i called the seller to confirm the sale!!!

No.1...im not blind ie meaning that i can read $250 which was written on his 4 sale board.

No.2...im not deaf either....as it was clearly stated several times that he wanted $250 for his baywindow kombi.

just a bit pissed that ive wasted 2 weeks on this jerkoff trying to source parts for this baywindow,im just really glad that before i bought the doner vehicle i called the seller of the 67-68 to confirm the sale which is when i heard the words.........NO THE KOMBI IS AND WAS ALWAYS $450 fuc*ing bullsh*t!!!!!

i would have had alot more respect for this person if he had the common decency to call me if he didnt want to sell his project.or at the very least TELL THE TRUTH and tell me that he has changed his mind or wants more $$$ for his car.

want i really HATE is that he couldnt tell me upfront what was really going on!!if you ask me hes a lieing coward(i could go on and on but i wont)if i make a mistake ill own up to it apoligise and tell people why i f*cked up!!!!but i dont treat people like thier blind and stupid for that matter.just wanted to say THANKS MATE for showing your true colors!!!!!!!!:repuke

ps sorry for the waste of space but i just had to get that off my chest!!!!sorry if i have offended anybody on this forum as i had no intention of doing this.

I remember going to buy a second-hand 1303s (1600 curved screen) from a dealer back in the UK for the wife, the guy took me for a ride in it and I noticed that every time he slowed down he was heel and toeing it, obviously it wouldn't tick over on idle and was ready to stall. When he allowed me to look at the engine it was a really old 1200 single port and he's there telling me it was original! Needless to say I never bought it .

Don't worry mate,
I bought a square from (what I thought was a respectable business) Melbourne. Flew down to Melb to visit someone and convinced them to go out of their way and drive me out to the sellers garage and checked out the car. I then deposited the money in their bank account and arranged with the seller that I would shift the car in a week or two as I was living in Sydney and had to organise transport for it from their place to somewhere to repair it.
Next thing I read on the forum is that they were going out of business (as in closing themselves down, not being forced into anything) and no one would either answer the telephone in the office, or return my call on the mobiles (and if you read this ben, I still have your number and the receipt for depositing the money as well as my phone records showing I called you numerous times).
So at least you are not as stupid as me to trust people, you checked first.

:cussing been there also with sellers who have a different perspective as to how good their car is but the naked eye tells you a different story and you wonder why there are so many tyre kickers

hey,

Just check out my thread in buying selle, under help wanted in sydney.

I am so glad I did not buy it sight unseen.

The guys idea of little rust, and mine...so different. he said it had some surface rust...when someone checked it out, it looked like it was on most surfaces...next to windows, sills, gutters etc, and no it wasn't just surface after all.

But he got a sale from someone else, who bought it for $2K

I am so so so glad I didn't buy it. Was a very close call.

But for u KDFKing, it's sucks that u were given 2 different prices. The worst part is, if he had up the price, adn let u know, cool..the choice is yours. But to say you imagined it...the thing is, once that is done, you wonder what else may or may not have been noted about car.

But hopefully it works out for best. if not this car, maybe another just around the corner.

Cheers
Donna

As mentioned on a different post, in the late 80's I looked at buying a 62 splitty, although didn't know anything about them. I needed it straight away, talked to the guy and he was happy to take the money there and then, lemme have the car, and we'd 'organise paperwork later'. When I went back, he denied saying anything about paperwork, and when I asked him about arranging the QLD roadworthy, he said there was no way, deal was all done.

When I took it for a roadworthy, it failed due to quality of rust repairs, so I couldn't transfer it into my name. Went back to him, he refused a refund, refused to give a receipt, and claimed he had already spent the money. Basically said he was now finished with the car, all mine.

I was young and stupid but was still stuffed around by this guy. Ended up trading it....sigh...wish I hadn't....

Oh phantom that totally sucks.

KDFking - February 28th, 2005 at 05:03 PM

thanks for the replys and seeing that ive calmed down today im glad that i did double check before i bought the doner bay as that really would have stuffed me up.ive more or less decieded to get the doner bay next week as it looks like alot less work (replacing the whole front skin wouldnt have been to much fun)anyway and the seller from the doner bay seems to be pretty straight forward(and alot closer to home)just needs a bit more panel beating than the other kombi.

i just like the baywindows that have the indicators on the bottom more than the later ones as they look like spittys from the rear but as soon as dad gets back well hopefully start doing up our 56 splitty(have to start that soon as the rust is starting to take over).hope i never see that guy again but if i do ill be giving him a few nice words.lucky for him hes to old for a thrashing.

Bought a Nice Kombi, that the Previous owner said had just a little work to complete.
I think his idea of little work was compared to a ground up bear metal restoration.:sandrine.:sandrine.:sandrine
