What is your Dream Car
57kombi - March 3rd, 2005 at 10:35 AM

Cant you tell Ive got too much time on my hands.

Just wondering what you would have if you could have any vehicle and why.
Problerbly been done before but I am bored.

Mine would have to be a Porsche 356 convertable, in pale lemon, I wouldnt mind even a fiberglass copy, I know its not fast or comfortable but its the vibe, its got class and style not a lot of other cars can match, later porsches like 911's dont do it for me, its the 356.

Its about the only vehicle I would get rid of my bus for.

What would you like and why, be honest and non of these oh well my beetle is the best car crap.

Cheers
Dave

no contest.. porsche 356

MikeM - March 3rd, 2005 at 11:21 AM

Porsche 550 spyder. Belive it or not replica is my preference, that way I can put a subaru in it for economic efficient daily transport.

I got my Type 224 that's about as good as you can get and need nothing else. Ok a porsche would be nice or a VW rod (just to be different) as shown on some posts here:alien

squizy - March 3rd, 2005 at 01:22 PM

When I was younger I always wanted a KG. Once I had one I let it go. :cry Now....a 23 Window or a 356 would suffice.

Squiz...

57kombi - March 3rd, 2005 at 02:54 PM

Looks like the 356 is winning,
I too would prefer a replica, that way I wouldnt be scared to drive it.
O.K.
I'll have one original and one replica.

Not too greedy am I.

Cheers
Dave

MickH - March 3rd, 2005 at 02:57 PM

older porsche 930 without the "factory mod" to stop it going sideways while overtaking:bounce:bounce:bounce

andrewh - March 3rd, 2005 at 03:09 PM

Does it have to be a VW? I've always had a soft spot for Lotuses. One of the new Lotus Exige 240Rs would do me.

Fossil - March 3rd, 2005 at 03:32 PM

Wife's desire is a nice Type 3 notch or a KG

VDUBXTC - March 3rd, 2005 at 03:42 PM

57kombi - March 3rd, 2005 at 03:44 PM

It can be what your dream car is, from Model T to Lambo's etc.

When I was young, a long time ago, I fell in love with 911's or 930'3 but now I have grown up it is the older cars like the 356 that do it for me.

God I must be getting old.

Che Castro - March 3rd, 2005 at 04:18 PM

356 speedster replica either black or silver colour with fuchs wheels with an EJ20T or Turbo type 4 or 2332 with IDAs in the back. On a late beetle pan with the front converted to double wishbones.

and/or a T Bucket hotrod with a huge big block in it :)

and/or a Early ragtop beetle with a lysholm supercharger or turbocharger (how about both???:) ) Type 4 engine dry sumped, on a late pan with wishbones up front on 996 wheels. Trying to build the body part of that now :)

oh and add an early lowlight KG with that too. Black or silver too :) Possibly with a modification to remove the B pillar, dumped with airbags on fuchs or stock two tone wheels with white walls :)

bugeyedbabe - March 3rd, 2005 at 04:22 PM

nbturbo - March 3rd, 2005 at 04:26 PM

Dave-your dream car already exists and it lives close to the Bay.It's owned by a woman who has spent almost the National Debt on it. It went thru a few VW shops in Adelaide during it's resto, some ripping her blind.Shane at the Veedubcentre ended up finishing most of it off.I think it's a 64 with a Reuter(I think that's how it is spelt) body, lemon yellow, now sporting an SC engine. She even tracked down an original SC crankcase, crankshaft, heads and manifolds and carbies. She had a roof section with an original electric sunroof imported from the US and fitted during a bare metal resto. The car would probably be one of the best in the world, because it has had every single part on the car restored or replaced inc. the whole front suspension, the trans was fully rebuilt with all new bearings and bits.If you see it in the flesh, you will have an embarrissing event occuring in the front of your pants.

57kombi - March 3rd, 2005 at 04:35 PM

I would not like to see it in the flesh as your description just made something happen,
I have to go now, will be back in 5 minutes.

Cheers
Dave
