Was thinking of getting the partners Beetle lowered this weekend.
Till i rang around and everywhere told me that there is only 1 type of spring for the new beetles and it only lowers it between 1.25" and 1.5". As
there is only one other type of spring for them.
So im wondering if it is worth spending the $400 or whatever bucks to get it lowered.
We wanted the gaurds to sit inline with the tyres at the front and for the tyre to sit a little in at the back so it was SLAMMED and looked decent but
me being a person of slammed cars i cant see us spending the money to only lower it and it still will sit well above the tyres.
Cheers,
Scott
Couple of members have had their new beetles done so hopefully they can offer advice - calling byronbug
Yeah also try Y2K and Beetle_girly. They both have their Newbug lowered.
Yeh i noticed they do. But dont they have coilovers?
Im looking at the cheap way out just the springs say a 1.75" drop. rather then the 1.25" drop you can only get here from big brands like King
Springs etc.
can you put up a pic? im not a fan of the new beetle anyway, so i'd like a laugh.
So you could have a laugh?
Its funny how people can say that about other peoples car. But as soon as someone starts to bag the other persons car they get all cut up.
Grow up mate, If you dont like the car and cant post anything constructive dont post at all.
I wouldnt waste my time posting a pic so you could laugh, i dont even know why im wasting my time replying to you.
If your that sad and need a laugh that bad you can use the search feature and find the pictures yourself.
Well said Fatbug.....it's about respect isn't it.
Hey Fatbug, since ive had my 2 bugs lowered three times id thouht it appropriate to reply.
White bug was lowered with Formula springs- 30mm drop, ehh not much difference.
Black bug lowered from day two of its existing life(18" wheels on since day one of its life..hehe) Anyway H&R springs - 45mm drop better
difference but roads are crap these days and the standard shocks wore out in 10 months (theyre not extending to their fullest, therefore die), So out
comes the mullah for some coilovers. Now dropped to 65-70mm and heaps better but be prepared for some ruff ride on bad roads. Handling tho, with the
strut brace, nothing can beat it Mine are H&R adjustable so they can
go lower but my wheel offset has stopped this, but next comes wheel spacers for the front and she'll go to the ground
Ok so i know your going ' mullah for coilovers' but it came down to this. Spend the same amount of mullah on another set of standard or modified
shocks with the same 45mm springs OR get rid of the lot and dump her on her guts..hehe
I voted for DUMPING

The natives are restless!! :duh
nah it does come down to respect and you just cant post on someones thread just so you can have a laugh...i really get the $hit$ about this sort of
stuff
Anyway Scott the look you want to achieve is possible but you will have to get adjustable coilovers to dump it
Yeah the only ones i can find avail are 30mm drop (1.25") My partner is like yeah i will just get them. But im not forking out $400 to see barely any
difference hehe.
I sent you a PM!
hi y2k " the springs i had in my new bug were king springs and thay
were ment 2 b 30mm but seteled 2 more like 45mm she looked grate i was runing 19"inch wheels the ride was a littel harsh but so r tasmanian roads "

VW do a set of lowered springs for the NB.50mm down from memory. You can buy them thru any dealer and are covered by their warranty.
I didnt think Volkswagen would make a 2" drop spring?
I knew they sold Sports suspension but i assumed it was only like a inch drop at the most. Ill go call them now.
Thanks
right on phatbug VW only do a minimal drop spring and anything else like king springs, pedders or fulcrum can do more - depends on ya $$$ situation
springs will only go so far cause the sway bar and etc get in the road. the only way to go lower is via coilovers or bags
:kiss
