Help out a dubber? with a type 3 ghia
57 Cal look - February 18th, 2003 at 07:07 AM

Hi guys,
Well i bought the type 3 ghia i found... i love it and i cant wait to get it back on the road.

I have had to spend a bit more than i thought i would have too, to get so now i am really cash strapped and can't really afford those expencive mechanic bills.

Now, its all there and it is in really good shape... the only problem is that it has not been on the road for 4 years, or so i am told.... it started on the 4th try when i jumped it, when i was checking it out.. so that fills me with confidence about it...

what i need is somebody who knows there way around a type 3 engine & type 3 breaks.. i figure the engine will need new plugs / point / leads and fresh oil , plus a good tune... the breaks will need a bleed and a adjustment.
Of course i will be buying all the bits needed, but i lack the skills to do the job right

If anybody would be up for helping me with this.. as this is my first type 3 ever... and it has me a bit scared, as i know nothing abouth them... and i goto get this thing upto spec , so it can pass a blue slip inspection.

well thanks for you time, and i hope i hear from somebody
cheers..

Get the Muir book+ the Bentley manual. That's pretty much all the paperwork for general maintenance you need.

Easily available:

No so easily available:

If you want to rebuild your engine, there is a book on doing it, but I would imagine if you can afford a mechanic, you're not likely going to be able to afford the bits for a rebuild right now either.

Brakes, I don't know about.

For further advice in Sydney, ring Boris at VVDS at Campsie - 9789 1777. He owns a nice white T3 Ghia himself.
