I have noticed quite a few Kombie's with alloy bull bars that I have been told are off a toyota four wheel drive, dose anyone have any info about these, what model ToJo they are off and where do you get them! I noticed there was a few at the Dubs by the pub meet :thumb
yeah i have an alloy i got off a kombi wreck at the tugan tip. i don't know much of its origins but it looks pretty fckin cool. the only things is we had to drill 4 vertical holes where the original bumper was fitted and bolt it on.
Thanks for the reply rozrob, your Kombi, is it an aqua and white colour with an RACQ sticker in the left bottom corner of the winscreen?
I live at bilambil and used to go to Tugan tip all the time, but since they have moved to the new spot it is not as good as it used to be!
Nah mate mine is a white '74 with pretty dark tinting. can usually be found cruising nth nsw or at the tugan tip lookin fer a bargain. like the previously mentioned kombi, i bought for $50 which had the bullbar, interior cupboards and fold down backseat/bed. nearly ready for our trip round the country:bounce
I am still hoping some body has some info for me there is quite a few of them around some body must know.
I very much doubt that any lancruiser bullbar would fit. Firstly the front of a kombi is round. Usually bullbars have bolts into where the standard
bumper bolts on. Secondly, there probably isnt any structural elements to mount to the chassis of the kombi, I think the landcruisers chassis probably
pokes right out front. If thats not the case then the other mounts to the chassis almost certainly wouldnt line up.
This is all just me supposing but since nobody can say for sure i put in my 2 bobs.
Hi Amazer
from what I have seen, there are two types that are fitted to cruisers, there is a strait across one, and another with three angles, this is the
one you need , the parallel bars are just in the right spot for the headlights, but the main bumper part of the bar has to be trimed back along the
top surface to clear the front clip, and the two swept back front faces are at the right angle to follow the curve of the front of the van, (I have a
77 it has a deformation panel that the bumper bolts onto) all you have to do is drill the four holes in the same spot as the originals and bolt it
on.
I have some pictures of these, but I have to scan them first.
I will be looking for one at a 4x4 wreckers soon, if I get one and fit it I will post a story about it!

yep OK I understand that. But does it have anything that goes under the van and bolts to the chassis? If not then its useless for anything other than mounting lights.
Thats where the TIG comes in, you are most definately right, most of the ones I have seen have no support underneath, if something did hit them it
would go straight into the front clip, I have a friend that has a TIG he will make some reinforcing brackets with skid plates going back to the same
place as the old pipe bars for me out of some of his scrap.
If I were to get the same style of bar made up for me it would cost me $800 or more, this is why I am hoping to get a secondhandy for $150 or
so.
